History

The truck is an original U13 Roadster that was bought and remained in New Mexico nearly its entire life.  The body is virtually rust free which is unusual for these old Broncos.   I purchased the truck in 2004 and have done extensive work to it and enjoyed it very much. It runs and drives wonderfully. If you've driven many old Bronco's it can often be a white knuckle experience, not this truck.   The focus of work on this truck was to make something that is easy to drive on the highway, city streets, and trails while being reliable and safe.  The fuel injection and lockers make trails much more enjoyable.  The hydroboost brakes make this truck stop extremely well and the 4 wheel disks keep the truck straight and predictable under hard braking.  The custom lower steering shaft assembly, Delphi steering box, and 1 ton tie rod-over swap make the truck steer like a late model car. The NV3550 is a modern transmission that has a good low range for trails and an overdriven 5th gear for highway cruising.  The EFI controller is an opensource DIYAutoTune Microsquirt.  They are a very flexible and well-engineered controllers that has massive online community support.  Live tuning and data logging can be handled through Tuner Studio which is an amazing piece of software.  This unit is not a “Black Box” EFI solution like some of the kits offered by the big manufactures, you can get into the system to see and control exactly what's going on.  My last big remaining project was paint and some minor body work but unfortunately I have run out of time and energy to keep this project going. I have the original transmission, front axle, rear axle, roadster door inserts and many small parts that will be included with the sale to keep the original roadster parts together.  Buyer will need to arrange for shipping the original Dana 33 front axle, 9" rear, and 3 plastic tote bins of parts.  I have receipts, documentation, diagrams, and schematics covering the work that's been done.

The Bad

·        There's a cutout in the sheet metal where the(since removed) auxiliary tank filler neck passed through.

·        There's a small bit of rust on the passenger side rear of the hard top as well as on top of the hard top.

·        I have the door weather stripping but removed it because it had a poor glue bond

·        There is some sheet metal work needed on the hood where it was drilled for hood pins.

·        The Hydroboost master cylinder needs a smaller reservoir so it can be properly clocked

·        The oil pan needs to be dropped and the Fel-Pro one piece molded gasket needs to be re-set to stop a small oil leak

·        The Centerforce clutch has an occasional rattle to it.  I've read this is likely due to the small weights on the spring fingers. I don't believe it is anything other than a nuisance.
