1965 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
The Chevrolet C-10 designation can be confusing at times, with the C-10, C-20, C-30, and then the line of K designations to throw in as well. The difference between C & K is C is 2-wheel drive, and K is 4-wheel drive. The numerical designation denotes weight maximum. 10 is 1/2 ton, 20 is 3/4 ton, and 30 is 1 ton.
For consignment, from the great state of Texas where everything is bigger and better, we have a 1965 Chevrolet C10 pickup gracing our hallowed halls. And it appears to be bigger and better as it was restored several years ago and it now has a reputation as a strong runner, has a drop kit installed, disc brakes, A/C, and overdrive. All my exes live in Texas...
ExteriorBathed in red, this truck shows very nicely and sports some white accenting side trim and a white cab on top. It has the "eyebrow" in hood turn signals and a shiny egg crate grille with a single headlight inserted on either side. A nicely preserved bumper is just below the grille. On the b pillar of the cab is a nice ribbed piece of stainless covering most of it with a script type Custom badge in the center. The steel bed sides and tailgate are also bathed in beautiful red and the bed is like new and lined with maple and chrome slats between the boards. Black chrome American Racing 5 spoke wheels are on all 4 corners, and we can see pristine badging throughout on the exterior.
InteriorA swing of the doors and this interior is just begging you to get in. Red and white vinyl, (red inserts white bolsters and back top bench), is pristine. A nice tan paint is reserved for the dash and metal door panels are showing in more of a gold color slightly darker than the dash. All original instruments are in front of a wood rimmed newer 3 spoke steering wheel with a bowtie badge in its center in front of the dash. This interior has A/C and an aftermarket pioneer AM/FM/CD digital stereo. The headliner is pressed steel and painted tan and the floors have back carpeting.
DrivetrainNow showing under the hood is a 400ci V8 topped with a 4-barrel carburetor. On the back is a 700R4 - speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle. All looking nicely detailed, and clean with metal hoses and an aluminum radiator with a chromed fan guard.
UndercarriageNearly perfect underneath with a combination of black and red steel underpinnings and finished maple from the underside of the bed, you can spend hours underneath just gazing in amazement. Some upgrades to the suspension where a suspension drop kit is on and we can see independent coil spring front suspension and 3 link with coil springs for the rear. Power disc braking for the upfront and power drums for the back provide the woah horsey.
Drive-AbilityTurn the key, hear throaty exhaust, put the truck in gear and go like the wind. The truck handled very well, and the interior is ergonomically near perfect for me, or my cohort test driver were accommodated just fine. Careful on the brakes as the pedal travel is excessive and when it gets there it is soft. The radio is not working, the horn is not beeping, and the gas gauge is inoperable.
A trip back in time with the iconic Chevrolet eyebrow hood, plenty of upgrades and a nice like new interior. Anytime one hears a frame off you know you are going to see quality, and this truck does not disappoint in looks and quality of build. All here and all in 1965 C10 form...That's why I find myself in Texas...
