"Production of the MGB began in October 1962 just after the production of the MGA had ceased. A Mark II version was added in 1967. and the car stayed in production until 1980. becoming one of the most successful British sports cars of all time. with a total of over 300. 00 cars being exported to the U. S. alone. The final MGBs to be produced for 1980 were named "Limited Edition. . All of these final MGBs were finished in black with gunmetal-grey side stripes along the body and a front spoiler below the polyurethane nose. Additionally. these cars came with five-spoke alloy wheels. manufactured by GKN with MG hub center appliqués. a luggage rack and a leather-wrapped and padded three-spoke steering wheel with a special center hub. A "Limited Edition" dash plaque was installed on the glovebox as well. "

I am the second owner of this car. originally from Ohio. The original owner had it undercoated when new (so no rust) and kept it in his garage during the winter. I drove it from Cleveland to Manhattan Beach in 2008 and it now sits in my garage. I don't drive it enough. and need my garage back for another car. The odometer reads under 40K. but the speedo cable was broken under the first owner. so that's not the true reading.

While prepping for the cross-country trip. the car was completely "gone over" and organized by Steve at Omni Specialties of Cleveland. Here is what we did to the car:

Replaced the original 4-speed transmission with a 5-speed from a Nissan 240-280Z;

Installed cruise control;

New carburetor;

New wheels and tires;

Replaced automatic choke with manual;

New top (solution dyed acrylic premium fabric);

Rebuilt seats (kept the original seat covers--I put on sheepskin seat covers for driving around the beach!);

Removed the smog pump (legal in Ohio);

Removed the engine (still the original) in order to swap out the transmission and cleaned/painted/replaced all the items in the engine compartment before replacing;

I get compliments and stares every time I drive this car--a lot of fun!
