1955 Chevy Truck, second series, NO rust, V8, short bed, big back window

1955 Chevy 3100 truck.

Second series

This is the very desirable SHORT BED, BIG BACK WINDOW, ORIGINAL V8…  I believe the original color was red based on looking at the layers of paint on the truck.  I bought the truck about 10 years ago in an estate sale from northern California.  Saw it on eBay…  Had it shipped to me.  I've done my best to keep it with a stock look as you can see.

Last pained by Macco in 1990.  I had the receipts back to 1972 when I got the truck but have not been about to find them now.  NO visible rust, no bubbles.  I have done nothing to the body or paint in the 10 years I have had the truck.  Even the common areas, bottoms of doors, door hinges, and cab corners have no visible rust.  Under the truck the same goes with no significant rust.

For me the interior is a little rough.  The seat is great, no tears etc.  the dashboard has two holes on each side I assume for previous search lights.  The colors are a bit off in the interior as can be seen in the pictures.  The cover for the transmission on the floor has a hole in it but I just covered this with a mat.  It must have had a manual on the floor at some point.  Nothing missing.  It even has a vintage heater that I had the core fixed and is connected the the water system.  I check the electrical on it and it is fine but I never hooked up the electrical.  It is installed.  Glass is old but fine, no crackes.  Doors are working, lock, etc.

Came with a perfectly running, and not smoking 283 small block motor, not the original as I believe the first V8s were a 265 motor.  I left the long block intact but removed everything else for paining and gasket replacement when I got it.  I have never had a motor issue with this truck.  I have only driven it about a hundred miles or so per year.  No leaks.  I did recently have a charging issue and replaced the generator.  The speedo cable recently broke.

Transmission was added by a very good friend who is in his 70s and specializes in these trucks.  He put a 3 speed with OVERDRIVE in it.  Still on the column.  This allows me to drive on the Freeway at 60 without stressing the motor.  Once I could go freeway speeds, I realized I needed better brakes.  The same friend installed front disc brakes with a booster mounted to the frame.  This way I did not have anything much looking different under the hood.
