CONDITION

The Monaco White finish presents well. There is some micro blistering of the top finish on some of the panels, which is barely visible in the images typical of fibreglass bodied cars, particularly of this era.The cream leather seats and door card inserts feature some light creasing, which is commensurate with the car's age and mileage. The carpet displays some general discolouration, particularly in the driver's side footwell.There is no known damage to any of the fibreglass body panels.The passenger side electric window switch is faulty, but there are no other known electrical issues.There are no known mechanical faults.The most recent MOT test was on 1 November 2021 at 86,426 miles where the car received a clean pass, with no advisories. Prior to this, on the same day, the car failed on lack of windscreen wiper fluid and a steering rack gaiter, both of which were rectified.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

The original Lotus Esprit was made world famous by its appearance in the James Bond film ‘The Spy Who Loved Me', the guise of a custom submarine named ‘Wet Nallie'.The S2 brought notable improvements for the model, and this car was first registered during September 1979.The car rides on 14-inch ‘Speedline' alloys, which have just been professionally refurbished.This Esprit is believed to have originally been painted gold, repainted to the current white colour in 1987.Now finished in period-correct Monaco White, with cream leather upholstery. The dash and door cards are covered in a striking Olive faux suede.The car is supplied with a folder full of service history dating back to 1981, the original owner's handbook, the original Lotus workshop manual and Lotus parts list folders.

SERVICE HISTORY

Extensive folder of history dating back to 1981, many thousands spent keeping her in tip top condition.Its most recent scheduled maintenance was in October 2021 where technicians fitted new front brakes and seals, renewed the brake fluid, changed the engine oil and filter and professionally refurbished the wheels.In April 2020, She had a new brake master cylinder seal kit, and replaced the choke cable and fuel lines.Other recent work includes a service in December 2018 which comprised of a full-service including timing belts, rear brake discs, rear caliper seals, and new ignition switch. The cam belt was also replaced during this service.In October 2016, the steering rack was reconditioned, and the steering shaft renewed. The front shock absorbers were replaced with Koni adjustable items, and the front springs, a rear wheel bearing, and exhaust manifold were all replaced with new items. A new battery was also fitted.The last service the original rear number plate lights were replaced with modern LED equivalents.History proves mileage is genuine.

SUMMARY

A well-maintained and smartly finished example of a 1970s ‘poster car', this Lotus Esprit S2 is an eminently usable example of the classic wedge-shaped design icon, made famous by James Bond.
