Here we have for auction a truly beautiful 1979 MGB V8 Roadster. just 3 previous owners and 51000 genuine miles since leaving Abingdon when we picked this car to make a MGB V8 Roadster. GEA 587T was supplied new by MG dealers Tipton Garages on the 21st May 1979. This MGB Roadster is finished in Inca Yellow with its original grey striped velour trim. Prior to taking delivery its first owner took the very wise precaution of investing in a full Ziebart rust proofing treatment. In belt & braces exercises an additional rust proof treatment. Protectol was carried out on the vehicle in 1984 and a third treatment of waxoyl in 1994. Together these treatments really have worked as a consequence this 'b' is a remarkably rust free example. GEA 587T has had some paintwork. but not been totally resprayed. There is original paint on some of the panels; others have had some cosmetic paint rectification done at differing times over the years. There is an invoice in the file for repairs to the O/S wing and quarter panel in 1997 total cost £160. No paint work done to outer body panels in the nearly 6 years we have owned the 'B'. After the first summer of driving and learning more about the 'B' we decided to carry out the v8 engine conversion. We spent the next 2 years collecting new and reconditioned genuine MGB V8 factory parts. We did not want to build a race car just a great reliable tourer for club runs and Sunday afternoons. v8 conversion The engine is a 3. 5 low mileage land rover unit which was striped down and rebuilt. Recondition genuine carburettors with new K N air filters. New water pump. hoses. radiator. oil cooler and 75 amp alternate. The gear box was a reconditioned Rover Vitesse 5 speed unit with new propshaft. The axle is a genuine MGB V8 striped and all new bearings and seals brakes. Exhaust was one Clive Wheatley made for me in stainless steel. Its sounds fantastic and we have now removed the radio from the car as its not needed. Interior New carpet set including the boot have been fitted. The dashboard has new V8 speedo and rev counter and chrome rims fitted to the gauges. The seats are original and in good clean condition Wheels and tyres. Genuine V8 Wheels in very good condition with Goodyear tyres as new. After two years carrying out the V8 conversion we are now left with a truly fantastic drivers car that will put a smile on your face every time you turn that ignition key. The 'B' has been a V8 now for 3 years and we have done less than 100 miles in 2013 so it time to let some one else enjoy the car. You will do very well with the car at local classic car shows and its nice when you bring a trophy home from your day out. The car has an extensive service history. including every tax disc and MOT certificate from new.
