1950 Packard in good condition. This car was in my friend's mother's well protected garage for 28 years. I had my mechanic slowly prepare the car before starting it. He inspected every aspect mechanically. The oil was drained 3x, all frayed wiring covered with black shrink tubing, all electrical relays were rebuilt/cleaned, gas tank removed, cleaned out, and painted with a new gas sender put in. Gas lines were blown out or replaced, and fresh gas put in. The car then was cranked for a while to test before firing it up. The car started and ran at idle the very first time! the oil pressure was tested and was great. At this point, additional work was performed. most of the main brake lines were replaced, some gas lines. all wheel cylinders and rubber brake lines were replaced with new ones. The master cylinder was rebuilt. 4 brand new wide white wall tires were purchased costing $1000. A new original style 6V battery was put in. An external gas filter was added for protection. The AM radio works well. The volume control was replaced and works as an external unit under the dash. The horn works great (loud)! the lights, brights, brake lights, and other lights work. The vacuum wind shield wiper motor was tested and is in good condition. The wipers themselves move when you turn the attachment which connects to the motor. The vacuum may not be strong enough (vacuum hose leak?). I never got far enough to have this corrected. The main good news about this car is the following. It is rare to find a car that is 71 years old where someone didn't try to "restore" it. The spots where the paint wore off shows steel that virtually didn't rust! The speedometer does not work. The motor runs during travel, and the temperature gauge fluctuates as normal and does not overheat, nor comes close to it. A new thermostat was put in prior to starting it. The charging gauge shows charging and discharging when the motor is shut off, and the key is put on. The oil pressure gauge goes to the correct position before starting (the gauge works), but the oil sending unit is not the correct one and can be replaced. This car has over drive. It is complicated and I don't understand how it is supposed to work, so I don't push the "clutch" button in on the dash. There is an over-drive handle that pulls out from the dash. It has been in the out position (I believe is the over-drive "on" position) and wont push in. I had my mechanic leave this alone. I have 2 nice 1950 Packard repair manuals, and a new pan gasket. Also have a spare white wall tire and rim for the trunk. The oil does not leak, so I didn't have this gasket put on. The steel of this car is VERY rust free. The bottom of the spare tire well is rusted, and there was small soft spots under the front carpet. I had steel fastened to the floor at these 2 spots. There is no rust problems along the usual places where rust would appear in side edges of the doors, etc. Price is firm and listing for 7 days. will accept PayPal for your protection.
