1966 Dodge Coronet 440

HiPo 361 - 4 Speed!!

Back in the 30's Chrysler had a parts division for servicing Chrysler products which was named Chrysler Motor Parts.   As the years went on the name was shortened to Chrysler MO PAR.   By the 1960's there was only one word that encompassed all 3 brands of Chrysler. Plymouth. and Dodge……that word was MOPAR.   And for the people loyal to the brand it became. “MOPAR or NO CAR. ”   1965 became the rebirth year for the Coronet but this time it was offered in the intermediate body style. not the full size as it was in previous years.   The Dodge Coronet out sold any other Chrysler brand in 1965 and it was obvious that the Coronet was leaving its mark in automotive history as one of the most popular MOPARS of its era.   With a wide range of engine and horsepower options the Coronet also became a force to be reckoned with on the streets of America.   By 1966 the Coronet became crisp and sharp with a long low stance body style that was perfected by Dodge which put this car in a class of its own.  This 1966 Dodge Coronet 440 offered here today has been tastefully restored. with the rare 361 HIPO engine and the 4 Speed Gear Box brings this car to the upper echelon of collectability and with modern day upgrades makes this Coronet one bad a$$ find.   Please read on to find out what makes this extremely solid. original body car so special.   We appreciate you visiting and please make sure you view all the pictures and video we've supplied. you won't be disappointed!!!

Exterior:

As you can see from the pictures this car is stunning in its appearance.   Lowered a few inches for a very tough appearance and added custom wheels for a strong stance makes this Coronet an eye catcher on the street or at any show or cruise night.   This restoration started off with an extremely solid original body that was virtually rust and corrosion free.   All the floors. frame rails. trunk. and quarters appear to be all original and solid.   The paint was finished in a silver base clear that shines beautifully.   The body is straight and all panels line up nicely.   The stainless is original and in excellent condition.   All the original glass is in excellent condition with mostly all new weather stripping.   The bumpers are in excellent condition and hold a great deal of depth and shine.   This car was built to drive. so it won't win any concourse judging but will stand tall at any show or event.   There are some very. very minor blemishes here and there.   Not even really visible but wanted to mention for those that are the most nit pickiest of all. The wheels are 20” in the rear and 18” in the front and flowmaster dual exhaust exits in front of the rear wheels.   Please look at all the pictures and video and let us know of any questions you may have.

Interior:

The interior has been fully restored in a custom red. white. maroon and black finish that complements the exterior very nicely.   The dash and door panels have been refinished to match the seats and so has the headliner as well.   Some of the lights and trim do have minor pitting and if very critical could be replaced.   It would make a nice weekend afternoon project to order new odds and ends.   A very fun and inexpensive project.   The color scheme continues to a fully customized trunk with matching material for a uniform look.   I assure you that under and behind all panels. you will see nothing but solid Detroit steel.   No rust or patches. Please look at the pictures provided and let us know of any questions you may have.

Drivetrain:

This Coronet comes with the rare 361 HIPO engine block(date coded but not original to the car and the last year ever offered in the Dodge Coronet).   However it was punched out to about a 390 cu.   With added performance parts and a hot cam makes this car sound an idle like no other.   With all upgrades and a Demon 1040cfm carburetor and flowmaster exhaust this engine screams with all rpm ranges.   We believe this car to be an original 4 speed car as the center interior floor hump appears factory with clutch set up and gear box.   Also 4 wheel disc brakes have been added not only for cosmetic purposes but for safety and performance.   The rear appears to be an 8 ¾ posi.   Not sure of the exact gear ratio but would assume 3. 70's or higher.   All suspension has been customized and lowered with a new gas tank and all new components.   All belts. hoses. tires. brakes and fluids are all new and road worthy.   The speedometer has not been hooked up however the lighter works therefore a GPS was used to determine mphs. There is said to be about 2000 miles on this build.   But the magic really happens when this car starts up and goes.   It brings the whole restoration to life.   The massive 20” wheels will break lose through all 4 gears that's how powerful this car is.   Please listen to the vehicle in the video provided.   Any questions please let us know.
