Probably the lowest priced 944 Turbo on the market and a complete bargain.

PORSCHE 944 Turbo (951) – 1989

Glacier Blue Metallic

The sought after 250 BHP Model

Just had new MOT, valid until August 2022

I have owned this 944 since January 2019. It's the third 944 I've owned.

Factory Spec:

Limited Slip Diff, MO30 Koni Adjustable Suspension, 928 S4 Brakes, ABS

Electric Windows, Electric Sunroof and Electric Rear Hatch release.

Cobra Alarm system with remote central locking from fob. (2 sets of keys/fobs included)

178,700 miles.

The car has a huge history file with lots of old MOTs, many invoices and a full service history stamped in the original service book. The original leather wallet is present along with the Driver's Manual etc. The last major service was at Revolution Porsche a few thousand miles ago at a cost of £2305. The timing belts were changed, a new water pump fitted, radiator re-core, new tensioner rollers, new oil level sender and various bushes were replaced. A four wheel alignment was also carried out. The balance shaft belts were replaced at 170,000 miles. The car has had new front wishbones in the last 5 or 6 years.

Bodywork:

944 models suffer from rust in the sills. Both sides of this car have been professionally repaired, inner and outer. The nearside was done in 2016 at a cost of £1248, invoice to prove. At the same time the battery tray was replaced and some work carried out the rear panel which was rusting. Everything was stripped back to metal and repaired. Cost £1103.

The offside sills were replaced during my ownership in May 2019, some rust patches on the lower front wing were sorted at the same time at a cost of £1200.

Some bubbles of rust were appearing around the A pillars and above the windscreen, a common 944 problem which is often bodged. This has all been professionally repaired with the windscreen taken out and new metal let in. The whole roof has all been re-painted. There were some bubbles of rust appearing on the nose of the car so we sorted this out at the same time. Over £1700 worth of work at Bodyshop 3000, Baston.

The car has had the following new parts fitted during my ownership:

Battery

Spark Plugs

Sunroof seal, boot lid seal.

Brembo brake pads all round

Power Steering Pump with new cooler pipe

Windscreen wash reservoir

Headlamp Motor

Airflow Meter

Temp sensor

Solid State DME relay

Armrest hinge

Gearshift mechanism and ball joint

Premium Carpet Mats

Rear hatch gas struts

The sunroof mechanism has just been serviced with new gears/cogs and the motor torque adjusted. The original vinyl cover/bag for stowing the sunroof hatch in the boot area is included. This is very rare to find. There are 2 plastic gear cogs and microswitches included as spares.

Interior:

The interior is in fantastic condition. The car originally came with Marine Blue Leatherette seats but these have been replaced at some point during the car's life. The seats are now black Porsche Script and they are in great condition. They have electric adjustment for height etc. but manual rake. The door cards are ‘studio cloth' There is some fading to the carpet in the rear hatch area, a common problem due to sunlight, but the carpets are all is good condition.

The top of the dash has a few of the usual cracks, I doubt you will find a 944 that doesn't have any! They're not all bad or unsightly though. (See photos)

The car has the original Panasonic Alphatuner (Radio Cassette) fitted which is highly sought after. It's in full working order.

Everything works as it should with the exception of the Air Conditioning. This didn't work when I bought the car and I've never attempted to get it working. The previous owner hadn't bothered with it either.

Modifications:

The car is virtually standard apart from a few subtle modifications. All were bought new in 2019.

17” Fuchs Replica Alloys with new black alloy wheel nuts.

Yokahoma Advan Sport Tyres in the correct sizes. 225/45/17 on the front and 255/40/17 on the rear. (These have covered less than 2000 miles and work really well on this car)

A Lindsey Racing Boost Enhancer (Pressure Relief Valve) is fitted. This brings the boost on a little earlier and gives smoother throttle response. It can easily be removed to return the car to standard.

A custom made, free flowing, stainless exhaust was made for the car by MIJ in Walsall, from the downpipe to the rear. The centre box has been removed. The car is slightly louder than standard but sounds fantastic. It could be returned to standard by fitting a centre box.

The car has clear front indicator lenses. A set of brand new clear rear indicator lenses is included in the sale but these have not been fitted.

A new headlight relay kit is also included but it not fitted. This will improve the power supply to the headlights which are fitted with Osram Nightbreaker bulbs.

A few minor issues:

The MOT highlighted a few advisories, my garage are very thorough with MOTs and have looked after all my cars for nearly 20 years.

There is a very slight oil leak.

A minor leak on the front of the exhaust.

The parking brake just met the efficiency test, it works fine though.

There is some corrosion on the fuel pipes. Some were replaced in 2013 so they're not that old but may need attention before the next MOT.

Sadly there is some pitting appearing on the alloy rims of the Fuchs wheels.

Summary:

It took me a while to find a decent 944 Turbo, there are plenty of bad ones out there! This car is not concours and the mileage is higher than some but low mile cars in this condition are selling for well over £20k these days! All the common (and expensive!) bodywork issues have been sorted on this car. It drives superbly and handles like a 944 should. We did the London To Brighton Classic car run back in June, driving down from Peterborough and it didn't miss a beat. I'll be sad to see this 944 go but I have added a couple of other cars to my collection so it's time for it to go to a new home.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions.

Payment via BACS transfer please. Collection from Langtoft PE6.

Vehicle is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to close this listing if sold.
