1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SL

   This is a no reserve auction and the 380SL will be sold, on or off auction. Started collecting about 50 years ago and the main objective was to buy the best one owner, matching numbers, rust free cars for pleasure and investment. This car, along with others in our collection, are being sold due to the owners age/health. We have been selling parts and cars on ebay for over 25 years with a solid 100 percent positive feedback. HISTORY:

   This Mercedes was recently acquired 6 months ago from a lady's estate in Hilton Head South Carolina. She bought it new and it has been in the same family since new. Has all of the original manuals and books as shown. It was serviced properly by the dealer in Hilton Head South Carolina at every service interval from new up to the present mileage. Every one of the service interval coupons are stamped and dated by the dealer. Such a meticulous service record is rarely seen. In reviewing the maintenance records, THOUSANDS of dollars were spent keeping this car in tip top condition. Some of the maintenance items done to the car are listed here - with receipts: There are MANY more but due to space restraints I am only listing the more significant ones:

Front and rear shock absorbers.

ALL filters. Oil, Hydraulic, engine, transmission, air, etc.

ALL Fluids. Engine, transmission, brakes, anti freeze.

Engine Timing Chain. Timing chain tensioner. Throttle Bushings. Idle Switch.

Front and rear Brake Calipers. Center link. Brake Pads. Brake hoses.

Fuel Pump. Fuel accumulator. Fuel hoses. Injectors and throttle body cleaned.

Muffler, Heater valve, valve cover seals/gaskets. Thermostat.

Shift rod bushings, Steering arm, steering dam, steering idler arm bushings, steering shock absorber.

Oxygen sensor, transmission cooler hoses, vacuum lines, dash light rheostat, speedometer repair.

Front end alignment, New fabric softtop, new tires, lifting magn?

ENGINE:

   This is the original engine - meticulously serviced by the dealer at every single service interval from new until now. It runs like new. Compression is 1-165. 2-170. 3-170. 4-175. 5-170. 6-170. 7-175. 8-175. Smooth, quiet, no issues. 

TRANSMISSION:

  Original transmission properly maintained by the dealer since new - functions perfectly. No issues.

FUEL SYSTEM:

  Original fuel injection/fuel system meticulously serviced and maintained by the dealer from new. Works flawlessly. No issues.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT:

  One of the nicest original engine compartments you will find. All original. No issues. 

 BRAKES/SUSPENSION/WHEELS/TIRES:

  Braking and suspension system serviced and maintained by the dealer. Needs nothing. Tires are all brand new GT70A 205/70/R14's. No issues.

 INTERIOR/UPHOLSTERY:

    Original dark blue leather interior, in very good condition as shown. Primarily driven by the woman owner with no passengers. All panels are excellent originals. The drivers seat leather has some cracking and one split on the lower cushion. Carpeting is the original in excellent condition. 

EXTERIOR TRIM:

  Chrome is all original - bumpers, guards, grille, door handles, etc. All in excellent condition as shown.

DASH AREA:

   All gauges work. Everything else works except for the air conditioning. It is just low on freon but needs to be converted to 134 - it still has the old R12 freon system. Very easy to do and not a big cost. Blaupunkt AMFM Stereo radio. Top of the dash has an aftermarket dash cover, covering cracks in the original dash top.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT:

  Excellent, straight and original. Original spare wheel and tire.

UNDERCARRIAGE/CHASSIS:

   Excellent throughout. Undamaged, no accidents and rust free. Inner and outer rocker panels and sills and the entire floor assemblys are all original, no rust and in like new condition. 

EXHAUST:

   Excellent exhaust system.

COOLING SYSTEM:

   Excellent cooling system. Runs cool - could sit and idle in 90 degree temperature all day and stay cool.

GLASS:

  All glass/windows are original and in excellent condition. Power windows work perfectly. 

SOFTTOP/HARDTOP:

  The softtop is brand new (correct Mercedes blue fabric). The hardtop is the original one that came with the car when new - excellent condition. Includes a rolling hardtop storage rack as shown. 

BODY PANELS:

  The body panels are all in excellent condition with no rust. 

 FACTORY ID PLATES:

 All original Vehicle identification ID plates are intact and correct. The vehicle serial number is WDBBA45A6EA002172.

PAPERWORK:

  All original manuals and maintenance receipts come with the car.  Clean Georgia title in my name.

REVIEW:

  This is not a typical "used car". It is an excellent example of one of the best built Mercedes. They aren't made like this anymore. It has been kept in tip top condition, serviced by the Mercedes dealer from new for every inspection and service. Thousands of dollars were spent on maintenance and as a result it drives perfectly smooth and is solid as a rock. Also a perfect Mercedes color combination.

VALUE:

   As of this date Hagerty Classic Car values lists the 1984 Mercedes Benz 380SL with the optional hardtop at: #1. $58,700. #2. $31,500. #3. $15,500. #4. $8,500. This car would appraise somewhere between a #2 and #3.

INSPECTION OF CAR:

  It is recommended that you personally inspect the car or have a 3rd party inspect it for you. I can accommodate anyone to show them the car. I have sold roughly 30 autos and motorcycles through ebay over the past 25 years with a solid 100 percent buyer satisfaction feedback. I give buyers an honest description, a better product and a better deal than they expect.

SHIPPING:

  Having shipped cars to all parts of the world over the years I can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange it, but only if necessary. However the cheapest and most efficient method is for the new owner to call a transport broker in their area and have them put out bids for the job. The car is in a secure place at my home and it can be collected there. I can assist with loading.

PAYMENT & BIDDING:

  Contact me prior to bidding if you have less than 5 feedbacks or your bid will be cancelled and you will be barred from any of my future auctions. A $1000 non refundable deposit via Paypal is due immediately after the auction closes. N0 Paypal for the remaining balance and the balance is due within 5 days via wire transfer or express mail with a cashiers check or cash. No Paypal for the balance. Payment is to be made in advance of collecting the car. This is an auction and you have plenty of time to inspect the car personally or have a 3rd party inspect it for you - inspections are welcome and encouraged. Winning the auction does not mean that you now have the privilege of coming to inspect the car to see if you like it. (or haggle on the price - ask me how that will go).
