1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL55,000 Documented Miles2 Owner California CarComplete Survivor in Excellent ConditionSignal Red with Black Leather InteriorIce Bold Behr A/CNeeds NothingProduction #41 Earliest US R107/350SL ever built. If you are in the market for a original, yet very drivable R107, with the early "euro" style bumpers, no emissions equipment, this is the car for you. The 1972 Mercedes 350SL was a 1 year only car in the US. Here is why. The European versions were 350SL's, fitted with the 3.5 liter V8 and for the United States, the cars got a 4.5 litre V8. The US versions of the 350SL left the factory with a "350SL" badge, but were actually 450SL's. But, Mercedes just decided to call the US Versions 350SL's for 1972, because they had no 450SL badges built. However, the factory later sent 450SL badges to Dealers to replace the 350SL emblems with 450SL emblems...but I don't think many people actually changed them. Chassis #41 has NO rear emblem, nor did it ever. It is so early of a car...I'm not sure if they knew what to call it at that point. In any event this vehicle has a June 1971 build date and has a VIN # of "41" ie. 10704412-000041. If you consider the DOT crash cars and prototypes and test mules, this is likely the earliest 107 in the Country. I did a LexisNexis search on VIN 1-40 and none of these were ever or currently registered in the US, so...this car was and is the first registered R107 in the US. This car was first registered the Mercedes Benz North America in 1971 and then was transferred to a MB Executive in the US. I bought the car from his Estate. The car is Signal Red with Black Leather interior. The car is rust free, no rust in the superstructure, rockers, rear floors, spare tire well, etc.The car is a true 55K mile survivor. Excellent paint, interior, and top (s). Car runs and drives great and everything works as it should. A/C cools to 51F, car never runs hot. It starts easy, shifts well, stops excellent. Major service was just recently completed on the car to include new, pads, reconditioned rotors on all 4 corners,  belts, hoses, all fluids exchanged, timing chain, timing chain guides, timing chain tensioners, gas tank cleaned. Radiator acid dipped and refurbished. Becker Stereo sent to Becker USA for refurbishment!Car needs absolutely nothing to drive and enjoy.Car comes with books, manuals, 2 keys, maintenance folio, service records, etc.  I've priced the car to sell immediately, and the car is for sale on other venues, this auction can and will be ended in the event of a sale outside of eBay. Happy to sell worldwide. I'm very familiar with shipping to Europe, ie. The Netherlands, Germany. My cell # is 630-200-3860...call me before its gone!Shipping:Port of Rotterdam, The Netherlands $1,700. Including Marine Insurance. You are responsible for the VAT of 10% when you register the vehicle. Bremerhaven, Germany. $1,700 Including Marine Insurance.
