1927 Rolls Royce Phantom 1.

Chassis number: 34EF
Registration number: YT7340

A fine open tourer with massive presence on the road. The car was restored some years ago by Marque specialists Coldwell Engineering after which it was driven to Monaco to run it in; the owner at the time being one John Bloor who dug deep in his pockets to finance the restoration. We are informed that Coldwell also oversaw the manufacture of the open touring body in addition to doing the mechanical aspects of the car.

Ordered by Rootes Ltd. Devonshire House. Piccadilly W1 for one F. A White Esq of 42 Carlisle Mansions SW1 London chassis 34EF was completed and supplied on 30th March 1927 to Thrupp & Maberley for a coach built cabriolet body. The build sheet shows extras that remain with the car include nickel plated lighting set. door handles. bonnet catches and horn as well as a smith's 8-day clock. The car was registered YT7340 on 15th September 1927. Original Rolls Royce service records record the car until 1938.

34EF was then registered to P. J Knighton in 1972 before being Restored by Coldwell Engineering for the next owner John Bloor the well-known Ghost collector. The overhead valve six was run-in on a trip to Monte Carlo in 1975 and a windscreen sticker is a reminder of this trip. The car then changed hand s in 1981 when it was gifted by a son to his father Mr C. H Geary who had been suffering from illness. the kind spirited son wanted to boost his father's spirits after admiring the car on a trip to John Bloor's collection. After much badgering. John Bloor was parted from the car and C. H Geary's initials are engraved on the trunks nickel hinge plate to this day. Mr Geary entered and won the 1987 Phantom 1 class at the Rolls-Royce Enthusiast's Club annual rally after which the car was seldom used.

Of pleasing proportions the dual cowl coachwork takes the form of a four door open tourer. It comes with a full hood which is easy to erect. a set of tonneau covers & side screens for inclement motoring. A large motoring trunk is fitted to the rear.

Mechanically the car is lovely. The engine. silent & powerful. wafts one down the road. It exhibits superb oil pressure & temperature remains steady around 80. The car is undergoing a service & set up to make it absolutely ready for the next owner. The original under-trays are pleasingly still extant.

The car is finished in Burgundy over Black which suits the car well. To the interior is biscuit coloured leather again in very fine order. Burgundy carpets are fitted throughout edge bound with biscuit trim. The cabin is generously wide allowing for three people to sit up front in comfort & the same in the rear capacious bench seat.

This is a car which has a huge wow factor & looks beautiful from any angle. Nicely run in. it needs nothing & is ready to give the next owner years of pleasure.

The best part of this car is actually driving it. The engine is wonderfully quiet pulling strongly from low revs. The steering is light & direct; the suspension soft & undulating.

The car is in stock now & ready for immediate viewings.
