For sale is my 1967 230S Mercedes-Benz 'Fintail' Heckflosse sedan.

This is a 118k mile. exceptionally clean 'survivor' driver-quality black-plate CA car. Automatic. power steering. and working cold AC. 2. 3L 6 cyl. 4 speed automatic. dual Zenith carbs.  A very rare Fintail to find with these options and in this condition. The 230S is the most powerful carb'd Fintail model. and has front disc brakes.

I have spent lots of time and money to buy and refurbish this car. and it was worth it.  I wanted to build a reliable. clean. daily driver Fintail with power steering and working AC. and the car came out wonderfully!

The car has NO RUST. a little flaking chrome on the front bumper. now covered with primer. that's it.  Super dry. straight and clean car. easy to work on. always garaged. I am the 3rd owner. the 2nd owner had it for years and spent lots of money on the car. This car came from the Sacramento area. Interior is near perfect red MB tex. seats are supportive and clean. front seat has the matching middle 'buddy seat' option.

Unfortunately. the records were lost when the car was purchased from the original owner's estate.   Having been an MB tech and worked on many of these models. I am very confident the mileage is 118k and not higher. there is no smoke or blow by and all the fittings and latches are tight and original. The wheel. pedals. etc all have wear consistent with low mileage.

Starts instantly hot or cold. no smoke. everything works (expect the original Blaupunkt. with it's optional rear shelf speaker. it does light up and 'pops'). drives smooth. the rare option ivory steering wheel has a wonderful feel. The car handles well and brakes straight. as only a Fintail can.

These cars are sophisticated and strong. very capable daily drivers. I drive it daily in LA freeway traffic. paces traffic with no problems. but with plenty of attention and 'thumbs-up!' AC blows super cold. never runs hot or overheats (new radiator core and water pump) Doors 'click' shut with that wonderful old Mercedes sound.  Two sets of ORIGINAL matching keys. manuals. tire changing tools. even the tire changing alignment pin is still in the little holder in the trunk!  It's really a charming little time-capsule car. with plenty of mechanical refreshing done recently.

Here is a list of work done to the car:

Fully rebuilt and set up twin Zenith carbs and linkage

Tune up & filters: plugs. points. cap & rotor. Mercedes LT (coil) wire

Distributor appears rebuilt/new. in and out.

New fuel pump

Valve adjustment

Bosch Euro headlights installed

new bulbs all around

New recored radiator. HE core

New Water pump

New Sanden AC compressor and service (charged with Freeze-12)

New bearings in AC belt idlers

NOS 13" Michelin tires (these are no longer available new)

New belts and hoses including all brake & PS hoses

New front pads

Adjust rear drums (shoes 60%)

All new fluids

New Trans cooler flex hoses

New driveshaft center bearing & flex disc

New Diff. mount bushing

New Bosal muffler and resonator

NOS bosch stainless wipers

Flaws:

There are some cosmetic flaws. consistent with this car's history and Driver/Survivor state.   There are scratches. dents and dings. most seem garage storage type of mishaps. light dent in hood by grille. below right taillight. crease on R quarter. Most of these look fixable by PDR (paintless dent removal) windshield scratches. these should polish out with the Eastwood kit. I just never got to it. Radio. as discussed above. The clock runs a little slow. Some flaked chrome and dents to bumpers. Driver's carpet has wear. Drivers door and fender look to have been repainted at some point. You'll likely want to fill the front screw holes where the US lights were. or better yet cover them with some period Cibie foglights!

I have owned many old Mercedes - I know them in and out. and I kinda love them. as you can probably tell. I'll really miss this one. but I don't want to end up on the 'Hoarders' show.

Please ask any and all questions. it's important to me that my car goes to a loving and caring home.  Feel free to call me 310. 213. 2956. My name is Josef.

Thanks. and good luck buying my lovely Finny! Please feel free to make offers.
