Rolls Royce Silver Dawn - Body by James Young, ex Harry Ferguson for sale

Listed for a friend who does not have Ebay access. who is selling the car for the widow of the deceased owner (Richard Harrison RREC Member for over 40 years).

Rolls Royce Silver Dawn Automatic. nbsp;finished in black over garnet with cream leather interior.   The chassis was built by Rolls Royce in 1954 and it has the Chassis Number SRH68 and Engine Number S34H (4566cc).   Of the 761 Silver Dawns produced. nbsp;only 64 had a coach built body.   This car was coach built by James Young - design C. 20. S. D and only 10 were made in this design.   Copies of the build paperwork from both Rolls Royce and James Young is included in the sale.  

Now a bit about the history of the car.   The car was displayed by London Dealer Jack Barclay at the 1954 Motor Show at Earls Court before being registered on 25 January 1955 with registration number PXD 94.  

A previous owner of the car was Henry George "Harry" Ferguson who was an Irish engineer and inventor who is noted for his role in the development of the modern agricultural tractor. for becoming the first Irishman to build and fly his own aeroplane. and for developing the first four-wheel drive Formula One car. the Ferguson P99.   Today his name lives on in the name of the Massey Ferguson company.   Amongst the history are copies of correspondence between Harry and BO Davies regarding his purchase of the car.  

The car also appeared in the 1963 Peter Sellers film "The Wrong Arm of the Law" and a still from the film is amongst the photographs.

The black and white photograph of the car outside some houses is circa 1957. taken by the then owner. a Mr Scott of Darlington.

The car comes with handbook. tools. oilers. spare hose set. oil etc. and a lots of history.   Also. included are both indoor and outdoor car covers.

All in all. the car is in good condition (although the paintwork could do with a flat and polish). nbsp;is taxed and tested and ready to go!
