Finished in arguably the most desirable colour combination for a Mercedes of this era, Blueblack Metallic with Mushroom Leather; this 1992 230E has covered a mere 16,100 miles in the hands of two keepers.

Originally supplied by Geyfords of Tooting (SW17) in October 1992, to its first keeper in SW19, the car covered very few miles in the first 10 years due to the owners declining health. It was maintained by the supplying dealer until the first owner's passing in 2011 when the car was then sold to a family friend (also living in the Wimbledon area) who kept the car until this summer when I acquired it with little over 15k miles on the odometer. Since 2012, the car has been maintained by Steve Redfern in Wimbledon and unlike many low mileage cars, hasn't been left sitting without the correct level of servicing and maintenance. As such, this W124 literally drives like a new car. It starts without a moment's hesitation from both cold and when warm, has excellent 3 bar oil pressure, makes extremely smooth, quiet progress and shifts gears perfectly. The steering is also pin-sharp, with none of the characteristic off centre vague dead spot around the centre associated with the model. Driving a tired well used W124, as most of them are now, and then trying this one really opens your eyes to just how next level they must have been in relation to competitors in period. I would love to daily drive this car and pile 15k miles a year on to it, but it is far too special and irreplaceable now. Anecdotally, when I collected the car to drive it home I said that Derbyshire would be the furthest north the car has been. Turns out I was miles out, it has only been north of the Thames a handful of times! Also with the car in addition to the service history described, are the owners manual, book pack and 4 keys.

As is to be expected, the car presents in exceptional condition throughout. All panels are original with no rust or signs of accident damage or repair, the jacking points, inner wings and sub frame mounts are guaranteed totally rust free. I wish there was more to say but there isn't - the car is totally mint.

Inside, the mushroom leather interior shows little signs of use. Free of stains and still nicely matte in finish, it is clear that none of the seats have seen much action. The back seats and passenger seats look almost totally unused and there is only the tiniest of marking to the driver's seat bolster. The optional Walnut dash trim still has a rich shine and instrument needles remain vibrant orange, which confirms the story that this car always been stored indoors.

Spec on this 230E includes the leather interior, power sunroof, power windows, illuminated vanity mirrors, 390mm Sportline Steering wheel (which is in such perfect condition), leather gear shifter, ABS, 6.5J 8 hole alloys with Continental tyres, rear headrests, front armrest (the piping on which is not split, which is never the case on a 30 year old W124) and black Mercedes over mats. The car is also fitted with a retro style Bluetooth radio, though the original Blaupunkt radio can be re-fitted if the buyer would rather. It haso has 4 factory fitted speakers and factory fitted Hirschmann power aerial.

It is really difficult to describe just how nice this car is without rambling on, but I can assure anyone who sees this car that they won't be disappointed. The whole car feels thoroughly fresh, I can imagine how most of these felt after 12 months on the road rather than 30 years. Supplied with 12 months MOT and freshly serviced and mechanically inspected in August, the only parts that needed replacing were the front shock absorber boots which had perished. With that, she has a totally clean bill of health and wants for absolutely nothing. The car was awarded Best Saloon Car at the Mercedes Benz Club's W124 Day this September and it really must be one of the very best available in the UK at the moment. Please study the photographs carefully and see the following link for additional photos, and feel free to call me should you require any more information on this exceptional W124.
