Ford Granada GXL - V6 manual! For Sale (1972)

I am listing this car for a friend. if you have any questions or wish to view the car please ring John on 07818251343.

The car will also be at the Ace Cafe Ford Day on Sat 11 of April and can be seen there.

The car is located within 10 min of junction 20 M25.

This must be one of the earliest surviving Granada still roadworthy in Europe and very rare with the manual option.

The car was recently re imported from cyprus and registered in the uk for the first time it has a curent MOT and is tax free.

there are a few minor paint issues and the interior is in need of some mild restoration however considering it age and history this exiting car has never been shown before in the UK.

If you are considerig bidding on this car I strongly recomend you view the car as condition is a subjective point and there is nothing like making your own mind up when it come to classic cars.

iI saying that this car can be used and would make a fantastic rolling restoration.

Here is a potted history that came with the car.

In April 1972 the GXL was at the top of the newly-launched Granada range; the Ghia model came later. Granada was a "Car for Europe. designed to be built in both Britain and Germany. to replace the British made Zephyr and Zodiac high line. and the German Taunus 26M. The British models initially used V4 and V6 versions of the familiar Essex engine; in Germany the Cologne design was used. This car  was built in May 1972 in Dagenham. England as a GXL which was only available with the V6 engines (2. 5 or 3. 0 litres). In this case the 2. 5 was used. with the four-speed floor-shifted manual gearbox. a very rare combination .

The car was shipped to Cyprus direct from the production line in Dagenham where it was registered as new in September 1972. I understand the first owner was a senior officer in the Fire Service. based in Nicosia. It is believed it to be one of the earliest surviving examples. thanks to a mild restoration that was carried out some years ago.

The temperate climate in Cyprus has preserved this car. such that there are none of the rust issues which plauged the early production cars.

In addition the roads are not salted in winter. so corrosion has been minimised.

The Cypriot road tax system discourages keeping a car out of action for long. especially a car with a big engine. The is some thoughts that this car was used in the President's escape from the July 1974 coup d'etat.

The car has that famous Granada ride and road handling. the 2. 5 litre essex engine is surprisingly responsive coupled to the 4 speed manual gearbox . The power-assisted steering is light. making parking easy.  The car has the original Ford LW/MW radio fitted.

This is a cash sale only .

If you bid and win the auction you must contact me within 12 hrs and either deposite a non refundable £200 with Pay Pal or arrange to pick the car up immieadiatly. or it will be offered to the next highest bidder.
