1975 MG MGB GT V8, collector quality for sale
Current customer rating: (34 votes ) based onAlready a genuine low mileage MGB GT V8 in lovely original condition, our car is fresh from a meticulous body and paintwork refresh that has resulted in what must be one of the rarest examples now in stunning condition, being the 22nd car off the line, this is one of the first batch of the 735 rubber bumper GT V8's made, of which only 30 were ordered in this colour. Having been meticulously maintained by previous owners (with a work history file of over 37 years) the car drives superbly with a wonderful soundtrack and excellent roadholding. Finding cars of this quality and condition is rare these days and as ever, the driving experience of the GT with V8 performance and Webasto sun roof is thoroughly rewarding!
For those unfamiliar with this combination, the Rover V8 was first fitted to a Rover P5B in 1967, transforming the rather staid Rover. The engine is a perfect match for the MGB, as not only is the engine bay ideally suited, but the all alloy V8 weighs virtually the same as the B series engine, so the handling is not upset. It is powerful and efficient so the stunning performance is not at the cost of increased fuel bills.
The first examples appeared in mid 1973, the similarity to the normal MGB GT being the only real criticism but the fuel crisis following the October 1973 middle east war suppressed sales, irrespective of the near 1800cc fuel economy. In 1976 it was dropped after just 2591 were made.
