1964 Ford Falcon 302 V8 / 5 speed for sale

This is a 1964 Ford Falcon Futura imported into this country in the summer of 2019. It started life as a 6 cylinder, manual column-shift three speed car but now has a 5.0 / 302 small block engine, 5-speed manual gearbox and a 9" Ford rear axle, all installed while the car was still in America. You can see from the pics that the car has sun-bleached patinated paint giving a Roadkill / rat rod vibe and the left front wing is a slightly mismatched shade but the body is solid, very straight and with good shut lines and alignment. The floor pans, boot floor, sills etc are original and rust free (see pics). There is only minor bubbling on the rear quarters at the wheel arches, an easy fix if you feel the need. Some surface rust is visible on the outer panels, mostly on the roof, which I decided should be left alone to preserve the character of the car.The wheels are 7"x15" Torq Thrusts, vintage American-made examples rather than the Chinese manufactured ones American Racing Equipment sells nowadays. A new set of Bridgestone tyres was fitted in August 2021.The engine is a 302ci / 5.0L small block Ford V8, probably out of a 1980s Mustang. I have documentation indicating the engine now runs a Comp Cams camshaft and you can see Comp Cams roller rockers have been installed (pictured). The intake is a Ford Motorsport aluminium item with an Edelbrock 4 barrel. Hooker headers have been fitted, connected to a custom made dual H pipe stainless exhaust with large bullet mufflers and side exit pipes. Motorcycle style muffler inserts are currently fitted to quieten the sound a little but these can be removed / reinstalled easily. An oversized Northern aluminium radiator was fitted in America and I have added dual Spal fans, one thermostatically controlled and the other operated by a dashboard switch. The Borg-Warner T5 five-speed gearbox is fitted with a Hurst Billet short throw kit and shifter stick. The rear axle is the beefy Ford 9-inch, fitted with a gearset in the 3.60:1 range to improve acceleration, while the 5 speed trans allows more relaxed cruising at moderate revs. A front sway bar with poly bushes is fitted and the rear springs are augmented with coil over shocks. The brakes have been upgraded to 11" vented front discs, hefty 11" rear drums and a dual master cylinder. A Borgeson power steering system was installed this past summer and provides quicker and much more precise steering. The interior trim, carpets, etc. had been stripped out in the U.S. but the front bench seat has now been fitted with a factory pattern cover and the door & inner panels are in black vinyl. Heavy rubber floor mats have been fitted. The rear seat has been removed but is included in the sale. Additional 2 5/8" gauges have been fitted for volts, oil pressure and water temp, the last two having mechanical feeds. There is also a dash-top mounted tachometer. See the pic showing their readings at idle. The heater has been removed for lightness. This is a raw, noisy car with plenty of oomph and is great fun to drive. I had it weighed and it came in at 2816lbs / 1280kg, a lightweight by modern standards. This makes it some 200lbs lighter than the donor Mustang, itself no slouch, so it moves along very nicely. There's plenty of scope for you here to enjoy the car in the future: leave it as-is, set it up for track days or drag racing or use it as a good solid, sound basis for a Goodwood-style vintage racer.I have set the starting bid at what I believe is a fair amount and the auction is over seven days, with NO RESERVE. Please don't ask for a Buy it Now price or offer a trade. Such messages will not be answered.Remember, you are bidding to buy, not haggle when you come to pick up the car. A deposit of £250 is required within 48 hours of the sale. If no deposit is received the sale will be cancelled and the car offered to the second bidder.
