A gleaming example of the iconic Ford Motorsport developed Escort RS1600i in an enthusiast preserved condition.

Ford spot lamps. remote control door mirrors. RS 4 spoke leather trimmed steering wheel. rev counter. cassette holder. 2 speed plus intermittent wipers. tailgate wash wipe. Ford RS interior with sports reclining seats. head restraints. side window demisters. perforated headlining. Ford stereo cassette. coat hooks. vanity mirror on passenger sun visor. cigar lighter. rear ashtrays. front door stowage bins. 3-speed heater fan. coin box. trip recorder. tachometer. roof mounted digital clock.

EXTERIOR
The exterior of this RS1600i is stunning. finished in gleaming standard Ford Black. The paintwork has a bright shine and is in exceptional condition. The high gloss finish creates a mirror reflection complimented by the correct RS1600i decals on the bonnet. boot lid and sides. All exterior trim is in excellent order with the correct lights and badges. The front screen has been replaced. There are no scuffs or dings in the panels. Structurally sound in all areas. A fantastic example of the car that first returned the RS badge to the MK3 Escort.

INTERIOR
The interior of this RS1600i is amazing. Finished in Shark Grey Crushed Velour. the seats are extremely well preserved with little wear. The door cards are in remarkable condition and the perforated headlining is tight and free from marks and discolouration. Incredibly the dashboard and instrument binnacle have no cracks. Photos of the car at shows with a towel protecting this fragile area help explain its preserved state. The leather trimmed RS 4 spoke steering wheel is in excellent condition. All interior equipment is functional and the trim pieces intact. including the immaculate rear parcel shelf which has remained free from speaker cut outs. The two led lights in the speedometer designed to illuminate when decelerating from above 1600rpm are in perfect working order and show that the deceleration fuel shut off is operational as Ford intended. The boot area is spotless. An original Ford stereo remains in the car. A delightful and functional 80's interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with Fords 1600 Compound Value angle Hemispherical chamber (CVH) unit. producing 115 BHP when new. mated to the Bosch K Jetronic Fuel Injection System incorporating deceleration fuel shut off. The car still operates the twin coil set up as it did when it rolled of the production line at Ford. The engine has a delightful exhaust note as the car accelerates smoothly to a maximum speed of 118mph and achieves 0-60 in 8. 7 seconds. Basic engine detailing has been carried out to allow the bonnet to remain open at car shows. The 5 speed synchromesh gearbox with remote shirt is slightly vague on first outing but familiarisation is soon achieved allowing enthusiastic driving.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The original 15 X 6 inch RS seven spoke alloy wheels are undamaged and shod with new AVON ZV1 195/50R15 tyres. Diagonally split hydraulic circuits with tandem master cylinder. vacuum servo assistance and 9. 4” ventilated discs up front bring the car to an assuring stop after a firm application.

HISTORY FILE
A comprehensive A4 history file. which is neatly bound. waits to be presented to the new owner having been RS enthusiast owned for many years. In order to preserve the value and originality of this stunning car. previous owners have returned to Ford Main Dealers for maintenance. Some £1700 in the last 24 months alone can be witnessed for items such as a genuine Motorcraft Ford battery. All the handbooks. (including the rare RS1600i supplement) and spare keys remain with the vehicle. A Thatcham approved Clifford alarm system has been professionally installed.
