History :

Right ‘ where to start”

I purchased the car from within the trade . he background information  I had was that the former  keeper for the last 10 years  had invested somewhere in the region of £12000 in the car. here are no invoices to support this but when you look at the cars specification I have no reason to doubt this.

In the last nearly two years due to ill health the car had been laid up so not being able to maintain the up keep of the vehicle. /p>

What I gather from the trader is that it was owners initial intention to make a decent “track day “ competitor . ence this car not only looks the part it certainly is' the part!

This is what modifications have been carried out:

Conversion to disc brakes al- round fitted with Sumitomo calipers.

Rear fabricated wishbone assemblies fully adjustable suspension with uprated struts al -round

Uprated differential

Uprated close ratio gearbox  .

Now the engine:

Fitted is a modified 2800cc unit. he exact internal work I do not know' but externally fitted with triple Weber  45 DCOE's on Cannon light alloy inlet manifolds. branch tubular exhaust extractor manifold . prated ignition system . lternator . enlowe electric fan.

Wheels :

The car came to me fitted with nearly new Konig “multi spoke 7” alloy wheels  fitted with new Goodyear Optigrip 205/60 15's al-round. also with the car were the wheels that  you see mounted on the vehicle now. awesome looking  3 piece . spoke Image Split Rims . the dimensions 8” front /10” rear shod with 225/45/17 front and 235/35/17 rears  .

Bodywork:

The car is fitted with glass fibre arch. ill. front and rear air dam extensions.

Perspex headlamp covers.

So condition of the car now”

I will be as critical as I can.

Body and structure

The outer panelling is in excellent condition( I was surprised as to how good the panel work was  considering the lay up time ) with just a couple small surface  bubbles . ut nothing to cause concern or require attention at this stage.

Inner wing strut top casements very good . ikewise A/B pillar and slam panels. loor section good . /p>

On placing the car through an M. O. T. to find out what was required . he only structural work the was highlighted was “ rear lower off side floor section into sill .  inner lower arch . his was carried out by removing the glass fibre sill extension. utting out all of the corrosion and re fabricating in steel sheet

. eld in  re fit and bond in sill extension . his work was carried out by JW Silcox of Hereford . his company specialise in classic and vintage restoration and great job they have done!

Paintwork:

The paint of the car is lovely' the depth of shine is superb and the colour combination really does look stunning!

Please note : as you can see the front bonnet badge is missing. have managed to find an original in Kuwait ! I have purchased and will send onto winning bidder if not here by auction end.

Drive Train:

The engine sounds wonderful ( no doubt helped by the induction roar from the Webers! )

No oil leaks . verheating problems etc . o noisy  valve gear.

Gearbox:

Superb ! great change no syncromesh problems

Final Drive:

No issues . o wind up or slackness.

SUSPENSION:

Excellent :

With good control with firm but compliant control.

Brakes:

The brakes give good retardation . nd passed the mot brake test requirement with no problem. there is a sticky”piston  in one of the calipers but this is freeing up with use

Wheels & Tyres:

As mentioned above . ou have the luxury of two sets of wheels and tyres. aesthetically the big split rims look absolutely awesome on the car giving the right look under the arches. ut being split rims they are renowned for deflating due to rim sealing  . t can be sorted . r just keep pumping them up !

The best soloution is to use the split rims for shows or track days and run on the Konig alloys  and Goodyears on a daily basis .

Electrical:

At the time of writing all appear to be working  bar the cd tuner which requires speakers fitting . he unit it'self works. he oil pressure gauge works initially then fades rapidly. his cant be the oil pressure as the engine  is to good. I would think maybe the sender ?

Interior:

The seats are very good . ikewise door cards . eadlining  . he fitted carpet set is new and of good quality. he dashboard is good with just a call of small cracks in top . ll the glass is good .

On the Road:

Well what an occasion this vehicle is !

Not only the dramatic looks but the sound of that straight six grabbing lungful  of air   through those bellowing 45's

People just stop and stare' the next question being what is it? Datsun! For the younger ones Datsun' what that! Followed by it looks fantastic”

Yes ‘it is not a car for the shrinking violet” or the shy and retarding  ! but it is very much a drivers car people compared it in its first incarnation the 240' as the Japanese E type with the drive of a big healey” yes it could well be ‘

It is a car that will reward driver input. the  accessibility  for maintaining  is superb combined with straight forward drive train makes it an enthusiasts delight!

Conclusion:

The Datsun 260Z do not come up for sale very often and one in this specification hardly at all!

This is a car ready to be passed on to a new enthusiastic owner. ith  to carry on it's reawakening and hopefully repay it previous owners dream and hit the circuit!

With a little more fettling you have one truly great classic!

Many Thanks for looking and all the very best of luck with your bid

Please note: the cars I sell are “classic” cars and by nature and age are not of the reliability that is afforded to a modern car (apologies to the classic car enthusiasts for stating the obvious) but with all the best will in the world  whilst I would love then to stay totally reliable. but being old (like myself! )They can breakdown and you should be aware of this. if you have any doubt about classic car ownership or any of these facts kindly refrain from placing a bid on the car.

The car is as usual being sold with “No” Reserve !

Please Remember You Bid to Buy Not to Haggle.

Please note. The description of the vehicle is from my eyes and my opinion. am only human ( I think” ) and could miss something that you might pick up so  you are warmly encouraged to view and inspect the car prior to bidding yourself . I will do my utmost to accommodate you. But once the auction has finished and if you are the winning bidder. you will be expected to conclude the transaction after being given this opportunity to inspect before the auction concludes. Please do not hesitate to call on : 07970383375 to arrange a viewing.

If the winning bidder is not UK Mainland based. it would be possible to deliver the car to a embarkation destination of their choice. once payment is received and the appropriate delivery tariffs have been met. it would be up to the winning bidder to organise the necessary on-going transportation and paperwork.

Please note! With two previous bidders who have had successful bids on other classics I have sold and have been European mainland based. they did not complete the sale quoting. they did not realise the logistics for transportation to the European mainland

Please. Please. Please!

If you are based on the European Mainland and you are going to bid on the car. please make sure you have the means to transport to the European mainland. also please make sure before you bid. that if you intend to road use the vehicle it can be registered in your country.

Seller's payment instructions

If you require a quote for terms and tariffs to your destination please do not hesitate to email or call me :07970383375

If you require additional pictures. please do not hesitate to email.

Now for the boring bits. I only sell good quality classic cars and describe the cars as accurately as I can and sell with honesty and integrity (please read my feedback) I have had on now 15! Occasions (two in the last three listings! ) individuals being the successful bidders on cars and not fulfilling the auction terms (no contact after placing the winning bid ) so wasting my time and stopping a genuine person getting the car. nbsp;

I am also sad to say had an individual who decided after winning the car thinking he could try and force me to sell the car for less intimating placing negative feedback!

I would be grateful if you could call Me on: 07970383375 or email before you bid to confirm your intentions are bona fide .

Many thanks for your understanding.

Dave.
