Jaguar XJS 4.0£9950If you are looking at this ad then you probably know about these cars. If not: this is a 1992 facelift car with chrome bumpers and an AJ6 4 litre straight six engine, which has covered 92,089 miles at time of writing.  I have owned it for about a year and use it most weeks, usually for long journeys, at which it excels. I've spent a lot of money to ensure that it is reliable, as I have no use for an unreliable car - classic or otherwise - and consequently it has never let me down. It gets used, rather than sitting around in the garage sulking. I am an engineer, and so can't allow machinery to be poorly maintained, which is usually the reason these cars deteriorate.It has had a new cylinder head gasket (and reskim), new water pump, all the HT stuff under the bonnet, all of the fluids and filters changed (oil, water, transmission), and a new exhaust and battery within the last 3 months. I have also had some minor welding done as a precaution. MOT expires June 2022. There are no warning lights on on the dashboard. Oil presure is good and coolant temperature is always stable.This is not a pristine example (pay about £20k if that's what you want) but it looks good, goes well, and is not a tatty old barge. Some of the paint on the bonnet and boot lid is not perfect, and there are a few minor blemishes elsewhere. Inside the leather is good, but a new headlining would improve things. Everything works as it should, but the air con is a bit feeble. The alloys have been refurbished and are perfect, and all the tyres are recently new correct Pirelli P600's.It gulps a gallon of E10 every 25 miles, which is terrible, I know, but better than the V12. It is reasonably quick but not bonkers fast. If you want a sports car buy something else. This is a grand tourer, and I can't think of a better car for a long distance dash. It is an insane vehicle in every respect, that makes you smile on every journey - and the view out over that bonnet is enough reason to have one in itself.If you are intrested in buying then come and have a look and a drive first. Any inspection welcome. The car is near Ashboune in Derbyshire. They don't make them like this anymore, so get one before they all get too expensive...
