Let me introduce you to "Maggie". my 1964 MG 1100. She is quite a time warp and has survived so well due to her sojourn in South Africa, the country of her birth, where she has clearly lived a charmed life - she was only imported a year ago. I have had a good look underneath and, while i am no mechanic, I was with someone who is! There are NO signs of any rot underneath. Find another MG 1100 with neither signs of rot nor welding underneath even in the usual places around the rear subframe. The only fault I could spot is that she could do with a new CV boot on the right, a cheap and easy problem to fix. The handbrake could also do with adjustment. She shows just over 40,000 miles. Sadly, as is the case with so many South African imports, there is no paperwork to confirm this and you need to come to your own conclusions. I find the mileage credible due to the excellent condition and the "tight" feeling when driving her. She is a sweet thing to drive. Starting absolutely on the button, she is untemperamental. I drove down to Beaulieu for both days of the Autojumble/Automart and she didn't miss a beat. A great joy to drive on the traffic free roads of the (very) early morning. I found that the heater worked a treat, with none of the stiffness of controls of many old cars. She reminded me that this model range was quite a revolution in the early 1960s with accurate steering, a great ride and good seats. I have a very iffy back and I felt very comfortable after a 2 hour drive in Maggie, not something I can say of some more modern cars.Appreciation of condition is so subjective and you need to see her for yourself. Test drives only with full insurance or a deposit of the full buy-it-now price with me and proof of third party insurance! No dreamers, picnickers or tyre-kickers please! I would rate her condition as 2+, but your view is the one that counts. She has clearly had a very competent respray in the original colours. So, why am I selling this gem? Well, I bought her on a whim and I now must admit that I have "too many" cars - i.e. not enough parking and garaging. I already have two classics in the garage, a car and motorhome on the drive and two cars on the road. Maggie is sitting on the front lawn. She is here to sell. I have a wedding to fund and I need the pennies. No silly offers please but serious offers will receive serious consideration. Please note that I am not a trader and that this is a PRIVATE sale - I had to have a "business account" with eBay to list the number of items I had on - Returns are NOT accepted unless I have significantly misdescribed this car, which I have not! Collection from my home in Swindon.
