I have for sale my Wolesley 1300 mk II. First registered 1 July 1971, it is currently registered as a historic vehicle and is therefore tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt, with a credible approx. 54k miles on the clock. This is a terrific useable, cheap-to-run classic saloon that has been my daily (only) driver for the past year, though most of this being in London under lockdown, hasn't done the sort of mileage you might expect. As an increasingly rare later Wolesley ADO16 in a fab colour combination (‘black tulip' with red upholstery), it's both a very reliable head-turner, and would make the perfect starter classic: simple to service, and the parts market is as good as you'd expect from an Austin BMG 1100/1300. It's always started instantly from cold, and is a very enjoyable drive: what took me by surprise in this car is despite the stately feel of the hydrolastic suspension and ornamental bonnet, it not only keeps up favourably in modern traffic, but handles superbly, and really purrs along at speed.• V5C and 2x sets of keys.• 54071 miles (will rise slightly as in use), supported by good history file.• Tax, MOT and ULEZ exemption as historic vehicle, with MOT valid to 13 November 2021 and excellent history of MOT passes.• All electrics – including famous luminous grille badge – in great working order.• Electronic ignition and alternator conversion done.• Comes with original user manual!• Modern digital CD/Aux radio.• I will throw in any bits and pieces I have e.g. car cover, touch-up paint, correct fluids.• Came to me in excellent working order and all but sailed through MOT (with one minor advisory). I have recently done the following jobs:o Recent front tyre and spare (the rest seem to have plenty of life in them).o Complete brand new exhaust system, and new fuel hoses.o I have replaced a few cracked window regulator handles with good aftermarket matches – that's about it, cosmetically…o Have had original(?) front seatbelts inspected, and had rear seatbelts professionally installed – I find this is useful for persuading risk-averse friends into a classic…The car has a valid MOT and has been used regularly this past year; besides trips around and outside London, I've used it to travel between London and family in West Wales, as well as trips to the South West and East coasts. So this is sold in driving condition with a valid MOT, not a project or ‘rolling restoration'. It's been well looked after and serviced regularly with the correct oils, fluids etc for the car. However, as the photos show, it's certainly not in concours condition. There are obvious cosmetic issues: upholstery and carpets are complete, but there are one or two tears, including one prominent one on the rear bench seat. The car has obviously been resprayed by a previous owner, and the paint is starting to craze in a few places, as the pictures show, with the primer showing through beneath (an interesting visual effect, but you may wish to do a full respray at some stage). I've spotted some cosmetic rust around the front bumper, and there's what looks like a stone chip on the front driver's side door, but otherwise the car is well protected against corrosion. Some seals will benefit from renewing at some stage. When the alternator conversion was done by a previous owner, the wrong sized bracket was used: a mechanic has improvised a more secure fix by making a sleeve for it (and it hasn't given me any further trouble), but the correct, easily obtainable part sh ould be fitted at some point – I simply haven't got round to it.Inspections welcomed, please contact me by email or phone. Suitable trades and offers considered.
