1971 Mk1 Ford Capri 2.0 Pinto pre-facelift for sale.

Originally a 1600GT, the car has been upgraded to a 2.0 Ford Pinto engine & 5-speed gearbox. A lightened flywheel & race cam shaft (from Kent Cams) and 38 Weber Carb make the car an absolute joy to drive!

The bodywork is in absolutely superb condition, with no rust to be seen, and the same is true of the undercarriage. The car wears it's original Ford 'fern green' metallic paint which still presents almost like new after 50 years. The colour is an incredible head-turner, and a marked change from the louder Capri colours that are usually found. The impressive condition of the paintwork cannot be overstated and the car has stood out at classic shows during the summer!

Bucket seats have been installed for ease & comfort and the car sports a desirable rear disc brake conversion & lovely minilite wheels!

A comprehensive service history is present, dating back 26 years and detailing all work undertaken on the car in that time. Gearbox was serviced with new clutch last year, and new battery installed last month.

The car was imported from South Africa and hence has lived it's life in a dry climate - was garaged and 'babied' by the previous owner, who still checks in on the cars progress!

The original interior can also come with the car (in passable condition, but lightly stained & could do with a refurb) along with a huge amount of spare parts including (but not limited to);

2 x original Mk1 Capri bumpers (front & rear)

Original flywheel (good condition)

Original camshaft (H49 - good condition)

Ford viscous coupling fan

Handbrake

4 x original headlights

Clutch plate & clutch pressure plate

Instrument binnacle

Capri track control arms

2 x rear lights

These can be purchased with the car at a price to be determined according to sale price.

the issues;

The period radio is yet to be installed. This will be dealt with shortly.

The offside front calliper is intermittently binding and pulls to the right from time to time. This is on order and will most likely be fixed before sale.

The tachometer intermittently works, but can be an issue at lower revs. An aftermarket one is installed so this has never bothered me, but should be easy enough to get the original working correctly.

A previous owner installed a Lincoln badge on the bonnet (due to the Lincoln-Mercury division of Ford marketing the Capri in North America). This will leave a roughly 1p sized hole if removed - have had a quote done for repairs to remove this and have priced the car accordingly.

£16,995 o.n.o - I'm confident that first to see in person will buy!
