Note to Bidders: We've relisted this nice roadster after the winning bidder wasn't able to complete their purchase obligation. Please folks, don't let 'Lil Jimmy or your darling daughter Suzy-Q have access to your Ebay account unless you plan to pay for what they purchase.  Ok, enough rant!  Here's the description again as it was presented last week:

1979 MGB

Limited Edition

Movie Car

No Reserve past the opening bid

VIN: GHN5UL498457G

Remember how much you cared for your first real girlfriend back in high school?  When I was in the ninth grade, mine had the coolest Dad in the world!  He worked as a regional rep for British Leyland and they had an MGB much like this car.  He even let us drive it around the block once alone – something my father wouldn't EVER let a fifteen-year-old get away with!  Over the years I've owned many vintage British droptops and this is one of the nicest finds to come my way.  Here's a little background on the LE version:

“The Limited Edition (LE) MGB was produced in model years 1979 and 1980 to highlight the last cars coming from the storied Abingdon-on-Thames MG factory before it was shuttered at the end of that year.  The final batch of MGB LE models all came in black.  Each had the front chin spoiler, a chrome rear luggage rack, unique cast alloy wheels, silver lower body stripes with the British flag emblem embedded and a dash plaque announcing their Limited Edition status.”

Please look over my photos (all taken on August 21, 2021) and contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay listing.  My name is Mark and I can be reached at 206/914-1173.

A Fun Note to Bidders:  We occasionally lease vehicles to TV and film production companies when they're working here in the Seattle area.  Last week this MGB was used on location shooting a film and will appear on-screen next year when the movie is theatrically released.  I'll be sure to let the next owner know the release date so they can see their car up on the big screen.  Now's your chance to own a real, legitimate movie car!

CONDITION:

My mechanic went over the MG when it first arrived at our warehouse back in June.  He was pleased to see the Weber Carburetor conversion as most factory Zenith-Stromberg's fitted on these last model years were fire-prone from fuel leakage.  A Pierce intake manifold and custom tube exhaust headers have also been added.  This setup results in more horsepower from the 1800cc engine and a nice, throaty tuned exhaust.  An electronic ignition (with a high-output coil) was installed several years ago, so no worries about rough running or pesky points adjustment ever again.  Even after sitting in the warehouse for a week between outings, the car always fires up immediately at first-turn of the key.

Most MGB's came with cheap flooring when new and I'm very glad the interior's been upgraded with black cut-pile fitted carpet throughout (I'll include the factory-style protective rubber floormats pictured as well).  Your bum will be comfortable for hours on these bucket seats with their original upholstery still in very decent condition.  There's only one small screwdriver puncture on the driver's seatback.  Both door panels are original and well-above average as pictured.

Rust is always the first think I'm asked about when posting a vintage vehicle on Ebay.  Here in the Pacific Northwest we do get a bit of rain, but no snow, so our roads aren't salted during the winter.  Most vehicles native to Western Washington (and, like this car, that have been garaged) will never experience more than a little surface rust on underside parts.  Climb over, under and around this roadster; I know you'll come up smiling!  Though I'm not an body or paint expert, it appears there's been one respray to factory black.  There are NO frontend rock chips or scratches.  The Limited Edition stripes along the lower panels are complete and un-faded.  The original trim and light covers are very decent. All four factory alloy wheels are wrapped with newer 215/60R14 radials with at least 80-90% plus remaining tread.

New polyurethane front suspension bushings were installed last summer along with a new brake master cylinder and brake flex lines.  The system was flushed and fresh fluid added.  A new sending unit was installed in the fuel tank then as well.  All receipts for the above will come with the title.  So will the original owner's manual along with a new reprint and a complete vehicle wiring diagram (it is a British car, after all).

The four-speed full-synchro transmission shifts smoothly, just like it should, with NO clutch binding or slippage. This car has good speed, power, and steering.  It feels tight on the road!  There's a 1980's cassette stereo in the dash, but it doesn't seem to power up (I'm guessing it'll quickly be replaced with a modern tune player anyway).  Sony speakers are firmly mounted & wired in each door and should give years of future use.  About the only other flaws are several windshield cracks/dings.  The car will come with a second frame-mounted windshield and a new gasket set (hopefully, that will all fit inside for shipping).  I'll also include the removable fiberglass hardtop.  The original vinyl top and frame also are included, though it's not perfect.

As a respected Ebay seller with many satisfied online vehicle buyers over 15 years, I want you to bid with confidence knowing this MGB runs and drives AND that it is being properly represented.  Please don't be upset if I miss a minor flaw or some issue comes up as NO used vehicle is ever perfect.

Please check the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid!  You're encouraged to stop by, look over the car at my Auburn, WA warehouse and take it for a test drive (or higher an inspection service to do it for you).  As always, the vehicle is being sold “as-is, where-is” with a clean, free & clear Washington State title.

Because of the amount of money involved with a vehicle purchase, I reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback.  I also ask that potential bidders with a feedback rating of five or fewer transactions on Ebay contact me before placing their bid.  Please feel free to contact me directly thru eBay's system or, as outlined above, call me at 206/914-1173 anytime.  My name is MARK.

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:

A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction's end and is collected directly by Ebay. The balance of the purchase price is due by cash (in-person only), a wire transfer or other certified funds within seven days of the auction closing.  I can accept credit/debit cards but will need to first send an invoice from our card processor and ask that the 3.25% fee charged by them be added.  Please remember you are bidding to buy, and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract!  You're not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You're more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.

If you decide to have the MGB shipped home, there are numerous vehicle transport companies to choose from.  While delivery and the company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER, I ship vehicles regularly and have access to the nationwide Central DispatchSystem.  I can check to see what typical delivery costs have been to your area recently and we can then post a transport offer for the car at a fair price.  Usually, a shipper is lined up within a few days.  You'll pay the transporter COD when they arrive with the car.  No upfront deposit or other hassles.

The MGB can be stored free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends, assuming full payment has been received.  After that period storage is $20 per day.

Final Note: I list and sell my vehicles exclusively here on Ebay.  If you see them advertised on other sites BEWARE: you are being scammed. We've recently come across more than a dozen of my past auction vehicles (with my Ebay pics and descriptions lifted verbatim) on the scam site "Classic Cars for Sale" also listed as "TOPCLASSICSALE.COM". Some had been Ebay auctioned more than 10 years ago!
