1974 Ford Cortina 1600 XL Stunning condition, absolutely mint from top to bottom.!. Genuine 3 owner barn find 2 years ago. Laid up since 1995. Literally just completed a Full nut & bolt (stainless) restoration. Many new old stock parts. Was a Very good original shell to begin with. Fully bare metalled in the shuts and engine bay too. Fitted New Inner and outer rear arches, other than that it's still on its original sills, inners, steps, doors, A-posts, all 4 jacking points, chassis rails etc, all where solid. Unusual for a Cortina 30 years ago! It Had new wings before being laid up. All epoxy primed inside out upside down , double high build primed, original Daytona yellow in 2k. Looks gorgeous and my favourite colour for the Mk3.

All new rubbers throughout; windows, channels, doors etc.

All new chrome; X4 nos Ford door handels, bumpers & underiders re chromed to a very high standard £££s . All the stainless stripped and re-polished. Nos headLights, indicators and rear lights. Loom stripped cleaned & re-wrapped.

All original running gear 2k painted and detailed.

new: gaskets, seals, alternator, cambelt, water pump , radiator, hoses, coil etc. New exhaust system, everything painted in high temp paint. Upgraded with under cap

 (hidden) electronic ignition.

Suspension, axle stripped & painted 2k, new; bearings, gaskets, seals, master cylinder, callipers, discs, W/cylinders, shoes , upgraded braided hoses, copper pipes. Handbrake , clutch & speedo cables, all new with genuine fixings. 1/2 polybushed so not to ruin the Cortina feel. Full stainless nuts & bolts spring/washers throughout. X5 original wheels 2k painted/lacquered with new tyres & hubcaps. Original spare tyre never seen the road!

Original jack & wheel brace stripped and painted!

Original mint vynal roof! Just scrubbed & treated. No signs rust underneath, partly why I chose to do this car.

Original front & rear no: plates stripped & restored, surround  polished

Full interior re-trim new; front seats, carpet & headlining. Even painted & polished the insides of the ash trays. All chrome pin stripe detailing painfully painted..

Its never had mirrors or a radio fitted so no speaker holes either. Probably done 130k but now It's essentially a brand-new car!

Covered less than 500 miles, just to run it in. I Will continue to use it while the suns out. Drives beautifully, many have said “ IT LOOKS FAR BETTER THAN FORD EVER DID “ a pleasure to drive, nice tight and quiet, drives like a roller.

Im a panel beater sprayer by trade, been playing with Fords my whole life, professionally for 30yrs. Proud to say I done absolutely everything on this Tina myself. I restored the whole thing just because I wanted to give the xtra rare XL a new life, it makes I nice change from all the GXLs.

Built in working hours, yes I could have done the same work to an Aston and asked 180k but that's not me. I built it for the love of FORD… My job is done, its now ready for its new owner to enjoy for another 47yrs.

Great investment! If I had somewhere nice to put it I'd keep it and watch it climb in value!

Tax and mot exempt. Runs on super unleaded

Takes years off you when behind the wheel...

Now the boring but important bit...

Don't press the buynow without viewing.

Viewing at Bury st Edmunds

Although it's all fresh it's still a 47 year old Ford. So don't expect it to be like your 2011 Mondeo. It doesn't have power steering, air con, central locking abs etc. The air bag is your chin on the metal dash!

Strictly no timewasters or dreamers. You can see my time is precious.

If you haven't got the funds you can't have it!

If you have to ask for permission? please ask before contacting me.

I've kicked all the tyres so you don't have too! There fine...

If you think it's expensive you try and build one to this spec for less. Yes I used to buy them for 50quid and banger them too. Them days are long gone

Thanks very much for looking
