Volvo 240 GLT 2.3 Manual Estate

Volvo 240 GLT 2.3 classic estate 1988, Petrol injection + LPG, manual transmission, full black leather interior, 206K mileage but just run in for the legendary red block. MOT June 2022, electric windows, heated seats, tow bar.  Professional LPG conversion with 80 litres LPG between rear chassis rails and a 30 litre reduced petrol tank (sloshed) giving 360 miles range. Air shockers using rear-mounted compressor and control unit neatly installed in the dash. The vehicle has had a ton of work done in the last 12 months including a new radiator, headlights, refurbished wheels and new tyres, later flush tailgate, new stays, stainless steel exhaust and has been cared for by one owner from new.

The vehicle still has a good shine and leather seats are still very presentable. This is a rolling restoration and some attention to the usual rust spots like the tailgate opening corners could do with some attention, perhaps in due course a respray and the black Graphics replaced which typically have cracked and shrunk. Finally, I lost the “J” strip on the N/S back bumper. Overall this is a nice example that's unusually quick, and been well looked after. See photos to appreciate how clean this car is.

I am told the last years of production included galvanising the lower body shell.

Bad Points:

Some attention to rust in the known problem areas, inc the tailgate shut lower corners.

Screen cracked in recent hot weather so New windscreen is required.

Radio is old cassette aftermarket but could do with replacing.

Being realistic this car is 33 years old and has covered 206k miles and whilst it is in sound condition both bodily and mechanically as you might expect it's not perfect but in the hands of the right enthusiast would make a truly awesome Classic Car with very little work. This may be viewed as potentially a rolling restoration opportunity.

Reason for selling: I have owned and cared for this car since new in 1988 but due to age & health issues I find and automatic more suited to me these days.

Closing thoughts:   This car would be suited to someone who will cherish and care for it for the next many decades of its life, it's only a few years before it Tax exempt and the 240 Especially the GLT is possibly the best Volvo ever. Like the 1980's add said…

The vehicle is close to J1 M50 motorway in South Worcestershire.
