Mercedes 280SL Convertible 1984 R107 Barn Find 10 Yrs Respray 120K Hard Soft Top

Mercedes Benz 280SL 1984 A RegHere we have the ever popular Mercedes R107 convertibleThis Merc has been off the road since 2012, not long before the MOT ran out it had a full respray in the original Champagne Metallic after which the key was lost, the ignition barrel was removed rolled into a garage and has been sat there until 2 months ago.We have given it a wash as you can see the bodywork is still in very good condition, there are a couple of small surface rust spots, worst by the fuel filler flap, but all minor and easily remedied. All the trims are in the car, they were never refitted after the respray.We have fitted a replacement ignition barrel, fitted a new fuel pump and battery and she starts up no problem. Oil pressure perfect.Would recommend a full service and brake overhaul due to the length of time it has been sat, but it starts runs and stops.Comes complete with the soft top which folds into the rear scuttle compartment. Some discolouration to window and there has been a patch to the fabric, but still perfectly usable. Also comes with a hard top to make this convertible a more practical car throughout the yearMileage is 122701 and looking at the MOT history online have no reason not to believe that it is not genuine The rear bumper is in good condition with the chrome in very good condition, the front bumper mainly the front passenger corner is flaking, also passenger indicator has a hole in it, but easily sourced.Now for the not so great bit, but is the reason why it is not firmly set as a five figure sum carBoth front footwells and part of the arch will need replacing/repairing, the worst is the driver side, I have included a picture of both sides. As these areas usually go on these Mercs you are able to easily get the replacement panels pretty reasonably priced tooI would replace the whole driver sill personally but could be patched/fabricated, would just need a small patch on passenger side sill.On the front bumper support/slam there is a patch needed approx 6 in, it is easily assessible to repairThe spare wheel had a knock to the underside which split the metal, this has been knocked back and only needs a seem welding in to finish.With these issues that a competent welder would have no problem rectifying you would have a very smart car, and with these Mercedes continuing to increase in value I believe it is a very sound investmentA lot of pictures have been taken of the Merc so if you would like any more photos we can send them through eBay messagesAny questions please feel free to get in touch by phone or eBay messageThanks for looking!
