1973 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I for sale
Current customer rating: (300 votes ) based onThe Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from
1965 to 1980. It was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using
a monocoque chassis and. to date. has the largest production volume
of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was three and a half inches
narrower and seven inches shorter than the Silver Cloud which it
replaced but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space
thanks to more efficient packaging made possible by its
construction. Aside from a more modern appearance. the Silver
Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes instead of
drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing
live axle design of previous cars.
Originally supplied by Rolls-Royce to Jersey via Wadhams in
December 1973. the car returned to Cheshire in 1979 having covered
just 7. 00 miles and was subsequently purchased by a lady. The next
owner was a Mr. Falder who was Chairman of HMG Paints. who
purchased the car with 20. 00 miles on the clock. Finally a Mr.
Markey took over stewardship of JBN594N. clocking up only 7. 00
miles during his 18 years of ownership from 1995 to July 2013. With
over 30 previous MoT certificates the low mileage is
warranted. Complete with the original handbooks. this
Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow presents in a condition commensurate with
such low mileage. Finished in Chestnut with tan interior and
described by the vendor as "driving as a Rolls-Royce should". this
is a car that will appeal to collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test
certificate valid until 7th May 2014. it is rare to find a Silver
Shadow in this condition. but to find a 40 year old one that has
covered a mere 49. 00 miles from new is exceptional.
