1972 VW Baja Beetle Empi Tribute Car! WOW! Fully Rebuilt Custom Baja!

This is my fully rebuilt 1972 VW Baja Beetle Empi tribute car.The beetle was fully stripped and rebuilt late in 2020 by Kerry Coe of Coe's Customs in Kent. This included a complete strip and rebuild of the engine. New windows and rubbers all around and gas shocks fitted. The car was featured in Volksworld magazine and I have a copy that will come with the car. The design is a tribute to the 70's drag racing team the Empi ‘Inch Pincher'.The Baja was sold by Kerry and the new owner completed some more upgrades including the incredible custom chrome wheels, red custom rim protectors and engine dress-up parts. The interior was also updated with new Porsche GT seats which were recovered with new black upholstery with orange piping to match the car. The rear bench seat was also done to match. The carpets were replaced as well as the headliner and door cards. The engine was further upgraded with twin Weber carbs, custom linkages and a new ceramic coated Empi exhaust and valve covers. Custom lap belts fitted, which are dated to the end of 2022, should you want to drag race with them.The Baja was then sold to Aspire Competitions who listed it as a prize on their website. The car was delivered and I have had it ever since. Having owned a classic beetle previously I quickly identified that some more work was needed to get this car to the condition its in today. I put the car into Lee Southerton and his team at Volksmagic and spent over £3k on further upgrades and fixes. Give him a call and he will vouch for the car having gone over the whole build for me. The brakes have all been replaced along with a new master cylinder. The bonnet bay has been dressed and tidied and painted matt black. A new bonnet liner has been installed. The spot lights have been connected to a switch on the dash with a relay connected to the main lights. You can drive this Baja in the dark with no concerns over seeing where you are going. The washer bottle has been replaced with new and properly wired in. The fuel system has been thoroughly gone over with new fuel gauge sender unit, hoses and pipes throughout. It does not leak fuel or smell ‘fuelly' when driving or filling up. The twin carbs have been balanced and a new vacuum unit fitted along with an anti-pulse valve to ensure the advance works properly. The car has been tuned and starts on the button with no problems idling, accelerating or pulling on the hills. The door cards have been removed, properly lined and refitted with proper clips and all the door work has been checked and tightened. A passenger wing mirror fitted and the driver door mirror properly refitted. Hand brake rebuilt and holds very well and firmly.In summary, the Baja is now fully functioning with all elements working as they should. Its a massive crowd puller and I get everyone staring and pointing wherever I go. On the motorway I get lots of people pointing phones and filming me from the lanes next to me. When I stop, everyone asks about it and wants to take photos. Its a complete one off custom paint job and the rest of the car is now up to the same standard.I live just outside Cannock but the car is located just off junction 2 of the M54 at my place of work.I am selling as I live in a house with no driveway and no garage and this is the not the sort of car you leave parked outside on a roadway, at least not on a full time basis.The only thing left to fit is a bonnet seal, which I have bought. It's needs to be glued in and I have no where to do this to keep it dry, but the car does not leak without it. I also have a custom car cover, which is yet to be used and cost over £300. The car has proper period black number plates, but also come with the American style show plates.The mileage is just over 80k, but I am still using it so this may increase, but the engine has been fully rebuilt. It does not smoke or leak oil and pulls very well for a 1300cc.Car is MOT exempt and free to tax as you would expect for the age.Payment is by bank transfer or cash and the car will not be released until payment is received. I have the V5 in my name. Car is sold as seen, but you are happy to come and go over the car and see/feel it running.Its loud, but with the windows up its very reasonable as it is sound proofed and you can sit on the motorway at cruising speeds without going deaf. With the windows down, its a lot of fun.No rust, rock solid as you expect from a new build. The price is fair in my view based on the work, the condition, the upgrades and the overall package. Its a very special car. The car was listed on Ebay by a previous owner after it was sold by Kerry Coe, but at just under £19k, which was way over-priced in my opinion. Lee Southerton and other VW enthusiasts that I have spoken with tell me that the price is a steal for what it is. The car owes me just over £3k so I'm happy to have added to its condition and know that this special car will go on to be used and loved by owners and spectators alike.
