1971 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Super Beetle

This 1971 VW Super Beetle was purchase in May, 2020 in Phoenix where it was with a family since 1972. In 2000, the car started a complete pan off restoration, bodywork and paint by Drew Brothers Customs in Chandler, in 2000 Porsche Forest Green. The inspiration for the rebuild was German Look VW's in VW Trends.Pan was chemically stripped and powder coated, stainless steel fasteners were used throughout reassembly. All of the suspension parts were powder coated with urethane bushings installed on the front and rear suspensions. A larger 7/8 sway bar was installed up front, along with Topline adjustable struts with sports package, a stress bar was added to the strut tower to eliminate the "Super Shimmy". Braking was upgraded to four-wheel disc brakes (vented up front) with Porsche lug pattern with 16" Porsche Boxter wheels and wrapped with Dunlap tires. Due to hot Arizona summers, the previous owner opted for velour upholstery from TMI. To keep it German there are MK3 Jetta seats installed that were reupholstered by Covers+ in Chandler, AZ to match the TMI pattern. Other items included Mono Competition steering wheel, EMPTI Trigger Shifter. Retro Sound stereo and amplifier, 6 speakers, full set of VDO gauges, new speedometer. Dyna Mat was used throughout interior.Power comes from a 1641cc using original case and heads. Work was done by European Automotive Machine in Phoenix using 87mm pistons and a C35 Scat cam. Built to be reliable it has: an electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, stock PICT34 Carb and I replaced the Triple-Mil ceramic coated exhaust with a ceramic coated stock muffler to quiet the car in the neighborhood, with a little reduction in performance. finishing it up is a new clutch and pressure plate connected to a stock IRS transaxle with new CV axles.Added are pop-out rear quarter windows and Porsche 356 style driving lights. All rubber parts are new (West Coast Metric or Wolfburg West), new German running boards, new fuel tank, new trunk liners, completely new wiring. Just about everything is new or refurbished.I love this Super Beetle...!!! It has the right look and is beautiful. The craftsmanship of the person who owned it before me did an excellent job refurbishing the long time family car. I have most, if not all, of the paperwork on hand. Unfortunately, I have too many cars (in addition to a stock restored 1966 Beetle) and other financial commitments coming up.
