Mercedes W123 200T 7 Seater

Here we have our 1983 Mercedes 200T W123 petrol with automatic transmission.7 seater with manual sunroof and manual windows.We purchased this vehicle in April of this year with a view of it replacing our modern VW Passat which we use to take our two boys to their motorcross track as well as transportation for our dog. Our aim was to have a car which will be tax exempt soon meaning it would be affordable to have as a second car/workhorse.Despite being in regular use and with a valid MOT at the time of purchase we noted that once it arrived it needed quite a bit doing to it so we set about trying to make it as reliable and as nice to drive as possible. The following work was conducted;Coolant system flushed and cleaned, new MB top and bottom hoses, new antifreeze/summer coolant.Engine oil and MB filter replaced twice, second conducted 500 miles after the first to ensure good engine flush.Power steering flushed including steering box, new MB power steering reservoir filter, steering box adjusted to alleviate play.Self levelling rear suspension system flushed, new MB filter and the system filled with correct specification hydraulic fluid. The car sits lovely and straight even under load.New MB air filter, air filter housing sand blasted and repainted, correct MB warning decal fitted.Carburetor removed and cleaned, new service kit fitted including all diaphragms, auto choke works perfect.New MB alternator and water pump belts fitted, tappets checked and adjusted to both cold and hot specifications.Auto transmission drained, new MB filer fitted and refilled with correct ATF fluid.Rear differential drained and refilled with correct specification gear oil.Replacement front Boge shock absorbers fitted.New brake discs and pads all round, all four brake callipers professionally refurbished, new brake flexible hoses x4, new brake fluid flushed through until running clear.The vacuum controlled central locking on all the four doors, tailgate and fuel flap works perfectly. All door locks, window regulators and check straps have been cleaned and lubricated, internal door frames/skins have been treat with cavity wax, new door membranes fitted. The locking system maintains vacuum pressure when not in use and the locking system works several times without the engine running.Sunroof panel removed, new MB front and rear rubber seals fitted, front and rear water drains cleared and cleaned, correct MB grease applied to sunroof runners, wind deflector cleaned and lubricated. The sunroof is now a one handed operation.Four new Falcon tyres, wheels cleaned inside and out, wheel trims painted and polished. Full four wheel alignment with images and print out to support.Rusty rear wheel arches cut out and replaced, the car has now had a lower half glass out respray minus the roof due to not wishing to drop the headlining in order to remove the chrome roof rails. The DB930 Silver/Blue finish is lovely.Cavity wax injected inside the quarter panels and tailgate, the underside including the front wings have also been treated with clear cavity wax which hides nothing just protects.Bulkhead drains and a-pillar drains cleared and cleaned and treated with clear cavity wax, drain points adjacent to bonnet hinge mounts are clear of rust and corrosion.All door rubbers, mouldings, glass rubbers and trims cleaned prior to refitting, front and rear bumpers stripped, polished and insides of bumpers treated with cavity wax prior to refitting.Vacuum controlled headlight height adjuster works correctly.The front seats were removed, runners cleaned and lubricated, carpets and trims cleaned, sagging rear seat nets corrected. Slight wear on front seat outer back bolster.New radio/cd fitted with upgraded front dashboard speakers which fit as per originals.The carburetor mixture has been checked and the engine is omitting the correct exhaust CO2 emissions.The engine, gearbox and differential are bone dry with no oil leaks, no nasty wines or knocks upon driving.Original tool kit, first aid kit and safety triangle in boot, key fob and owners manual have the original sellers details MD agents Bradshaw & Webb as does the original rear number plate.The car drives lovely, drove it to Silverstone Classic where it sat for four days in the rain without any leaks from the sunroof, covered approximately 1000 miles now without fault.The only problem we have now is that we have a car that that despite our best intentions of making it nice to drive and reliable the thought of putting a dog in the back or two kids covered in mud does not appeal us now which is why we have reluctantly decided to move her on to someone who can treat it as a classic and not an everyday runabout. Any inspections prior to the end of the listing are welcome as are road tests with ourselves driving due to insurance purposes.
