I would describe this car as beauty and the beast. its absolutely stunning, but brutally prepared for performanceOriginally started out as a 1300sport, this is a once in a lifetime project by retired rally driver peter elliot over the course of 3 years, working 7 days a week on it.The engine is a vauhall,based on a john cleland championship winning gasstrack engine, 2 litre pump with an ultra lite all steel bottom end, big valveQED coscast head with hydraulic filters, anthony hawkins hot rod cams and weber 45s. A glorious custom built simpson manifold which means the car sounds awesome even on tickover.The rev range of the cams is 4000-9000 but with a very smooth drive considering.Mike haliwelll did all the one off components like the steering column with bronze bushes, con rods, crank, gearstick conversion, machining the rocker cover and brackets. eugene fareel did the fabrication workdrivetrain - twin cam mated via ultr lite steel flywheel, to a tranX 4 speed str8 cut box using alloy bellhousing.Everything has been meticulously planned in this build toensure ease of maintenance and reliability for the futureThe bodywork is immaculate,the shell was acid dipped, the undercarriage you could eat your dinner off it. not a spot of rust on it. the car has been in dry storage for 12 years only covering 500 miles to a couple of showsone last qoute from ford magazine"THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ESCORTS WEVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME"i have a cd of the build, and hundreds of pictures, and all its history
