Offered is a very famous vintage racer, "The Doodlebug". This is a 1939 Mercury chassis with original Flathead V8 and 3 speed transmission. The engine has an Offenhouser triple carburetor intake manifold and special heads. It was built in the Philadelphia/Northern New Jersey area and purchased in the mid 1950s by a young female racing enthusiast, Grace Curry, who was featured with the car as "Queen of the 1956 International Autorama" in Philadelphia in late 1956. The car was featured in February 1957 Motor Trend, May 1957 'Rod Builder & Customizer' magazine, April 1957 Motor Life, and several newspaper articles. The car was recently featured in the November 2020 Hemmings Classic Car magazine. The car runs and drives great, is currently registered and road ready! Some vintage articles state the car was built on a 41 Ford chassis, others 1939 Mercury, title and vin tag indicate 99A Mercury. A great vintage racer that is fun to drive. Would consider trade for a Packard. Clean California title. Fee free to call Chris for more detail. 530-400-0540
