E type Jaguar 4.2, 1969 2+2, 5 speed manual, right hand drive. All pictures taken 21st August 2021.Mileage total circa 115k.Good straight solid car, very reliable.Settle yourself in for a long read, but if your serious about buying this car it's worth 5 mins of your day:::USA dry state import 30 years ago - uk registered with v5 (6 digit reg plate).Owned by me for over 11 years, subtle mechanical upgrades inspired by the 6 figure Eagle E types.Purchased in Cheshire from an old gent who had owned it for ten years used it rarely as a wedding car for his 5 kids, sometimes his mot history shows ten miles between services and mots. I bought it and drove it 250 miles home, he used the money to buy a tractor.BODY: This is a rust free E type Jaguar and to keep it that way the day after I bought it I injected a gallon of waxoyl into the body cavity's and two tins of acf 50 rust prevention in common rust areas ie bonnet seams and behind window rubbers,, i also undersealed it as I hate rust, always garaged in the UK and appears never to have been driven in winter - rarely used in wet weather, this is my 2nd E type and I searched hard for this rust free car as my first one was very rusty and kept me awake at nights. DO NOT buy a rusty e type unless you have sleeping pills and/or are very rich. Two places to look on an E type are inside the fuel filler flap (this ones rust free) and Also look underneath at the condition of the nuts of the nuts and bolts, if these are showing heavy corrosion you basically have a rusty jag, you won't find any of that with this E type all fixings in great condition no issue with seized bolts. The body shut lines and gaps are good.PAINT: overall very presentable however it is showing light blistering to some areas, I know a lot of people with concours restored E types and they Rarely if ever get used due to worry of paint chips, this is a car that looks amazing, gets compliments constantly yet you can still use it and drive it as a summer daily driver, just as I have done for the last 11 years. feel free to bring a paint depth gauge and magnets it's all good steel. The car was repainted 30 years ago with a few later touch ups and blow ins due to usage and general life mishaps ie: small paint tin fell on the wing, caught the other wing with a ladder, A little paint shrinkage on the door etc - all sorted and looking great.Basically The car looks great and presents well while showing some patina. If you want a concourse car you will need to up your budget by £20k plus and look elsewhere.Chrome, good presentable chrome I keep it waxed through summer and coat in acf50 during winter hibernation.ENGINE: XK 4.2 straight 6, good oil pressure sits around 40 psi at cruising speed,Engine was rebuilt in the states around 35k miles ago by a respected engine builder, doesn't smoke on acceleration or over run, always starts easy, sounds good and pulls strong, triple SU's professionally rebuilt and polished 8 years ago (cost £2.5k replacing the twin USA strombergs which were awful), electronic ignition, stainless exhaust,  good service history going back decades showing yearly service receipts from myself and previous owners. Spin off sng Barrett oil filter. The clutch was changed 20k miles ago during the gearbox conversion.GEARBOX: Toyota supra w58 5 speed manual (replacing original 3 speed slushy automatic) Highly respected gearbox that only fits the 2+2 E types with a realm engineering conversion, the w58 can take over 500hp so is under stressed in the E type. Cruising speed went from 65mph to 85mph with great gear spacing. This conversion cost was over £7k.That's nearly £10k I spent on the triple SU's and gearbox conversion, and worth every penny as it transformed the car to a proper driving E type. SUSPENSION: mostly polybushed, Gaz adjustable shocks all round, Rob Beere adjustable front ride height adjustment (great for setting stance and ride height).I currently have it lifted at the front an inch higher than I would like due to devon dodgy roads. Easy to drop if you have better roads. The car handles great, taught and predictable without losing that silky jag ride.INTERIOR: overall good, comfortable and and presentable, professional conversion to right hand drive, nice clean presentable interior with recent headlining, Original Etype steering wheel beautifully restored with new wood and clear coated in 2k as anything else feels sticky to the touch. Seat belts front and rear with stereo. Comes with a brand new in the bag high quality fitted carpet set as the current carpets are presentable but showing their age. I just haven't felt the need to fit them as the interior worked fine for me and meant I didn't have to be too precious about the kids dripping ice cream onto the carpets.WHEELS: MWS spoke wheels 100% stainless including valves, 6 inch wide rims with 205 vredestien classics that have good tread, wheels are perfect they sparkle and will never rust (did I mention I hate rust) - wheels and tyres cost £3k. I went for 6 inch rims with 205 tyres as the original 5.5 inch and 185's look too skinny on the 2+2.Other, during my ownership it's had new balls joints, su fuel pumps, stainless steel exhaust, electric aerial, custom prop shaft, new windscreen (the original had a slight delamination due to age) hoses etc - the list goes on.I have covered over 25k trouble free miles in this E type over my 11 years of ownership. I used it all the time during the summer to get away from the boredom of driving my company car. I even picked up my new born daughter from the hospital maternity wing as I wanted the etype to be the first car she ever went in - the nurses were impressed....The garage who serviced it yearly and did the conversion work on the car (gearbox, carbs, suspension etc) (baskerville classic car garage Barnstaple) is an expert on Jaguars, when I dropped it off at him I would always say: I want to be able to take my kids to school then drive to Scotland and do a track day on the way, I never did the track day but I did use it on a summer tour round Europe in 2012, through Germany, Austria then following the route of the Italian job through the French and Italian mountains, then to chamonix and Geneva where I followed the original Geneva motor show test route, over 2.5k miles purring along at 85 mph while giving 23 miles per gallon, with the 5 gears it's a great long distance tourer while still being quick off the lights.I also competed In a local short hill climb/time trial, (I have the newspaper cutting with a big pic of the jag in action). I finished in a very respectable time and beat a roll caged full race prepped xk150 driven by an amateur racer in a flame proof race suit, I was wearing a button shirt and open face helmet and still had the spare wheel and kids seat in the back, my daughter wasn't in the seat at the time...The xk150 driver wasn't happy, but I was....Lots of paperwork, including a signed Etype book by the late e type Jaguar test drive Norman dewis - he also wrote this jags reg plate next to his signature at the 50th e type anniversary. The car was at the 50th anniversary and you can see a little of it in the Etype magazine during the attempt to have 1000 e types on the track.Owning an E type: you will be let out at junctions, people will smile and wave and point (it was once soluted by an old boy in a suit. I was once struggling to park in a tight spot in a busy village, a guy came out of his house and let me park on his drive, when I came back an hour later he was sitting there with a cup of tea just looking at the car having a great time - it gets constantly photgraphed, many times I have returned to the car and had to wait a minute until people have finished taking pics. People love E types if you are used to porches and flash modern motors that generate negativity from other drivers - then you are in for a very pleasant shock. And yes the rumour is true: The ladies really love an E type - that's enough said on that topic.....This is the sort of car you can buy, do 2000 or 3000 trouble free miles a year, get it serviced annually and do a little upgrade or replace a consumable part every now and then and just enjoy the car without it breaking the bank, keep it away from wet salty roads and it's as safe as money in the bank yet a lot more fun. and then In twenty years time convert it to electric - they already offer a bolt in kit for the E type so it should prove future proof and a great long term investment.......Regrettably for sale to a good home - this is my dream car as I grew up in Coventry near the factory and as a kid I would see the jags being tested and always wanted one, however life moves on, genuine reason for sale I won't bore you with it here.Viewing and collection in north devon, possible delivery anywhere in the uk - I can drive it to you I have no worry's with it doing 500 miles today. Could also be viewed and collected from browns lane in Coventry as my brother lives on browns lane.
