1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. This is a classic example of a highly sought icon for American Muscle. Largely unrestored. this car is ready for your body off resto. or a weekend in your garage to transform into the street and strip monster you always wanted. Not sure which direction you want to go yet? That's fine. she's ready for a weekend cruise to the beach or casual Friday at the office and is guaranteed to turn heads along the way.
She has a few dings and scratches. and the interior and exterior are in need of a cosmetic overhaul. This is not a restored. show ready car. and definitely not a track ready racer. It is a 43 year old daily driver. and while it is largely reliable. it does show some signs of its age.
Outside are some minor rust issues near the lower sections of the fender. small dents around the passenger side door. and a dent in the rear passenger faring near the trunk. and plastic trim around the taillights is beginning to break down. However. the body and frame are still solid.
Original front and rear benches. torn headliner. and the dash pad is cracked. The dash is original. including the gauges. and shows signs of age. The driver side door panel is worn. but intact. The rest of the interior is complete and assembled. the windows functional. heater and defroster blow hot air when you're ready for it. thanks to a brand new heater core and hoses; the ducts are clean. but aged. and the vents and pull knobs need repair or replacing. Currently there is no radio or stereo. but the wiring harness is in place and brand new. and ready for install.
In fact. the entire car has a brand new. custom wiring harness. complete with modern blade type fuse box installed in March 2013 by Hot Rods Speed & Custom of Norco. CA. The car is wired for a tach. which is currently not integrated in the dash. Also included are gauges for Voltage. Water Temp. Oil PSI. and Transmission Temp. They also included a basic wire set up to install a new stereo. Currently there is not a stereo installed in the car. nor is one included.
The motor is a crate GM 350 HO. Part #12366576. built 1979. currently believed to have approximately 260. 00 miles. and still running strong. It has a brand new fuel lines. fuel pump. water pump. radiator starter. solenoid. alternator. and ignition. all installed this year. Brand new spark plugs and wires installed August 2013. and less than 100 miles driven. An Edelbrock 1407 Performer Carburetor sits on the manifold. topped off with a K&N High Flow air cleaner. Exhaust is routed through a pair of Patriot Shorty headers. into an Hpipe configuration. and exits a pair of Flowmaster 50's just in front of the rear axle with the crisp. distinctive rumble of V8 muscle; all courtesy of Scotty's Muffler in San Bernardino. CA. This car sounds mean. in the best of ways. and has the legs to match.
The Transmission is a 700R4 built to street and strip specs by Hubbe's Performance of Corona. CA and installed in August of 2012. It is guaranteed by Hubbe himself to hold together for up to 1000 HP. and thanks to an electronic lockup with a manual switch. cruising down the 5 freeway to San Diego at 85 mph is nearly effortless at a paltry 2000 RPM. with plenty of grunt to push it beyond 120. Not that I would know. of course.   Taking off at red lights is a blast. too. with tire chirping. snappy shifts from 1st to 2nd. and again from 2nd to 3rd. and all this is controlled with a bump of your wrist on the floor mounted B&M Quicksilver. that functions equally well as you ratchet through the gears manually or put it in drive and let it shift itself.
This tire spinning torque is contained by a CPP complete 11" Front disc kit. installed with new front end and bushings in June 2005. and ball joints replaced in November 2012.  Rear end is a 336 10 bolt Posi built and installed in Sept 2000 by The Gear Man in Garden Grove. CA. but still has drum brakes.
She is supported by brand new shocks in the front and rear. and currently has air lines installed with the valve in the trunk if you choose to go back to an air ride system. She's got a full set of Rallye wheels with beauty rings and knock-off bowtie hubcaps; a brand new set of Nitto NT555R's in the back about 6 months and less than 5. 00 miles old. and a pair of Futura passenger car tires up front. approximately a year old with about 8. 00 miles.
Included is paperwork. service records. and several manuals dating back at least 15 years. the GM spec book. and a Hollander's. Also included in the price are a pair of original Buckets that I had restored in leather and suede by Earl's of San Bernardino. valued at $1200. 00.
