Only produced for one year. the 911 L was introduced in 1968. The L is the name stood for ‘Late mode'. Featuring the same 130 horsepower as the original 911. the 911L was the most expensive of the 911s since the 911S wasn't available in the US in 1968.

Only a total of 449 911L's were ever produced. and they all featured production dates after October 1967. Unfortunately. all of this led to both engineering and mechanical failures in the transmission and front suspension. Stuttgart. Germany engineers re-engineered the problem areas and constructed the remaining 449 vehicles and then released them for sale.

Considered to be a very rare find. the 1968 Porsche 911L came with a soft rear window targa. The 911L joined the updated 911 range in 1967 which later would enclude the T and S models. Now featured standard 5 speed transmission the original came with a 1991cc air-cooled engine. A semi-automatic version was introduced in 1968. The top speed of the Porsche 911L was 131 mph.

The Porsche 911L coupe 2. 0 was considered to be a tuned-down US version of the Euro S model to achieve US emissions standards.

About my car:

Up for sale is my 1968 Porsche 911L Coupe (NON MATCHING) finished in beautiful Aga Blue color (paint code:6608) with original beige leatherette interior. The Aga blue color looks very nice & glossy. Color changes from dark blue in the shade to an aguamarine/slate gray color in the sun. This is a nice clean looking short wheel base 911!
I acquired this 1968 Porsche 911L coupe in Nov 2011 here in the bay area. Car was painted silver over the original Metallic Blue color (paint code:6853) with the 2. 7 engine in running condition. No idea what happened to the original 2 liter engine.   The 2. 7 engine (#6270881) is from a 1977 911S according to the book. Actual mileage is unknown. The only thing done was the valves adjusted. Oil change this week. Has the upgraded head studs & tensioner. I already put around 2. 00 trouble free miles including 2 back to back trip to Carmel/Monterey @ the Historics. Napa Valley. car shows. & around the block. Car is fast & runs strong. 901 5 speed dog leg transmission shifts nice and smooth on all gears. It's driven occasionally so mileage will continue to go up.
Body is "accident free" and very straight with just minimal surface rust. Has all "original body panels" except for the fenders & front suspension pan. Fender replacement was from a solid 1967 912 (original). Front suspension pan with tow hook is brand new. Rocker panel & floor pan is all original.
Car went to the body shop in Jan 2012. All glass. windows. nteriors were removed. Basically a rolling shell. Engine/tranny was intact. Paint was stripped down to the primer. Doors. front fenders. hood. bumpers. rear engine lid was out and painted separately. Front/rear bumpers & rear license plate panel were professionally sand blasted before it was painted. Very minimal bondo and only to cover the "ugly" rear side reflectors lens on the rear quarter panels. Car was painted with Glasurit 90 line (water based). Glasurit paint alone cost over $1000. Whole car was color sand/buff after a few months. Bumpers & rear license plate panel was color sand/buff separately. Paint looks really good from 2 feet.

New headliner. brand new hogshair carpet set from Automat in New York (cost $1200). all the black interior was recovered with a high quality vinyl. The beige  interior was untouch except for a detail job. Has wear & patina as expected from a 45 year old car. Speaker holes was covered with carpet. Driver & passenger side seats are on the soft side. May need the pads or springs replace. I'm 145 pounds so it doesn't bother me. It's comfy!

Lots of brand new replacement parts totalling over $8000+ alone. I have receipts over 1" thick.

Car has some flaws like missing driver side door pocket. knob on the left side of the headlight knob switch is non functional (a push start engine start switch was installed there before). dent on the gas tank. minor leak on the oil return tube. not too bad. Few inperfection on the paint. Door gaps are not perfect. this is because the body shop didn't aligned correctly when installed. The gaps were perfect when prep and before painting.   Air conditioning was installed at some point. The a/c hose lines were covered with rubber plugs. Anchor point on the rear seat belt (driver/passenger) are missing. I have the new part from Restoration Design should the next owner decide to install in the future. This part only came available mid of this year. It' impossible to pin point every single flaw.
Please review all the detailed pictures & videos a few times and feel free to ask any questions. I'll let the pictures and videos do the talking. This is not a concourse show car but a very nice quality clean driver.
