Ford Consul Cortina 1500 GT Mk1 Rare pre air flow Restored needs minor finishing

Well its with very much regret I am selling my Genuine 1964 Consul Cortina GT and you would be hard pushed to find another

This is a very rare pre airflow , 1 year only model , The dashboard is unique to this year

I bought from a friend as a lock down project , It's had a mega amount of time and money spent on the car , My friend bought from Darren Jenkins of Power Park autos Ltd Banbury who are renowned classic Ford restoration experts, He (Dazza) features a lot in Shed and buried and the motorbike show with Henry Cole

Hence the paint and powder coating was done by them.

It was subject to a major refurbishment around 4 years ago and has been an ongoing project both for my friend and me on lockdown , unfortunately I have lost motivation and its taking up room which I could do with.

Work done

Total strip inside and out , windows and all trim removed inside and out

Bodywork prepared as necessary and professionally resprayed in its original Ford light blue in 2 pack inside and out

Compete underseal

Engine previously rebuilt

New radiator and hoses .

All brakes overhauled, new brake pipes and flexi pipes throughout  , pads and shoes , new calipers, and slaves ,New brake master cylinder

New wheel bearings and all suspension and bushes replaced

Rear axle tramp bars fitted

New John brown 6” Lotus Cortina style wheels with new Avon ZT5 175/70/13  tyres

New stainless steel hub caps plus spare for spare wheel

New rear shocks

Replaced rear  leaf springs

New stainless lotus Cortina split front bumpers

New P700 3 prong halogen sealed headlights

Strut brace

Air filter and most brackets and fixing powder coated

New Aldridge upholstery, new headlining , 4 door cards, carpet , kick panels, under dashboard shelf,rear window shelf

New window rubbers

New door soft trims

Dashboard completely removed and refurbished , and re trimmed

The seats came from a pre airflow Lotus Cortina , these have been colour matched to the original trim and Aldridge trim

Centre console refurbished

Rare Les Leston Lotus Cortina wood and alloy steering wheel

New Ashley exhaust system

New clutch,  master and slave cylinders

New oils in engine, gearbox and rear axle

Plugs , points , HT leads etc.

All components that was removed, refurbished or replaced with better .

Replaced fixings with new  zinc plated UNF and UNC bolts, nuts etc

I have probably forgotten something

As you can see it's had so much time and money spent on it however it will need further work

I.e. ......

Front and rear windscreens need fitting , as mentioned new rubbers and trim , even have the rope and vacuum window sucker ready

Needs front quarter lights and windows fitted , ( Rears fitted ) including window regulators .

Quarter lights will need paint

Needs Ashley exhaust system fitted

New door trims fitting

Centre console fitting

Needs battery

Front clear indicators

Door lock fitting on drivers door

Probably needs some other bits and bobs

Other than a battery and a spare wheel tyre ,Spare wheel needs painting .Don't think it needs anything spending , it's all here and refurbished  so, it's just labor

The body many many years ago (10- 20 years maybe ?) had new rear wheel arches, and repair plates in areas  , These repairs were then filled over as opposed to compete panel replacement , Due to this the preparation in some areas could have been better executed before paint  ( I am fussy ) The paintwork is superb ( professional) also some minor chips due to storage however totally lovely looking , Please refer to the original google images below for the condition of the body before paint.

Sold with needing to be finished off and not been run for 4 years , kept in dry storage with a cover on , collection by  trailer or low loader etc. .

Classic Fords are only heading one way so they are a good investment

Please bare in mind this is a genuine UK supplied GT and pretty rare to be the early version Consul Cortina GT too .

This the data from how many left , Not sure how accurate this is, my friend was a member of the Cortina owners club who verified the rarity of it when he owned .
