I present to you my coveted 1986 Mercury Capri. I purchased it in 1992 with 85,000 miles. I am the second owner. It was stock and in decent condition. It came from FoMoCo with red exterior, gray interior, 5.0 EFI, T5 5 speed, 2.73 rear gears, power windows, non AC, factory hood scoop and sunroof. In 1997 at 120,000 miles I added some light mods and had it repainted black. Mods include: rebuilt the stock engine to stock specifications, freshened trans, new Zoom clutch/ cable/quadrant, rebuilt diff with new 3.55 gears, Eibach lowering springs, KYB struts and shocks, Mac 2 1/2" aluminized H pipe non cat exhaust, pulley kit, KN filter, new fuel tank with upgraded pump and new sending unit, new steering rack and pump, new brake booster and master cylinder, Saleen side and rear ground effects, aftermarket seats, new carpet and head liner, new rubber door/hatch seals, rear seat delete, removed fog lights but all wiring and switch is still intact and works. Aftermarket wheels 17"x8" with 235/45/315 Sumitomo tires. I have all of the original seats/hardware, rear hatch cargo cover, and the stock wheels... they are included in the sale. Stereo equipment not included. I have put 45,000 fun filled, problem free miles on it since the facelift. It currently has 165,000 miles, has not had any failures and does not have any current problems that need addressed. It has been garage kept and babied the entire 29 years I have owned it. Is NOT a rust bucket, underside is clean with only light surface rust, body panels have never had a rust hole EVER. Just a light amount of filler was used when it was repainted. While not perfect, this is a very remarkable Mercury Capri and not easy to come by in this condition. Mods are tasteful and easily reversible, lots of paperwork to back up the impeccable maintenance record. I have absolutely enjoyed the HELL out of this car, but it is time to pass it along to another Capri lover who will cherish and enjoy it as much as I have.
