This 1964 Pontiac GTO is a great looking, well-optioned, and documented, first generation GTO. The GTO, otherwise known as the "Goat," was the brainchild of John Delorean when he was working in General Motor's Pontiac division in the early 60s. Delorean and his team of engineers came up with the first muscle car when they decided to drop a powerful Pontiac 389 Cubic Inch Motor into a Pontiac LeMans. In its early years, the GTO was an option package (the "Grand Tempest Option") for the LeMans because GM had restrictions on large displacement engines going into its smaller vehicles. This particular GTO come to us out of Florida and with a copy of the original build sheet and dealer order form, an owners manual, and other historical documents as well. Under the hood on this '64 GTO is a 389 Cubic Inch V8 motor that has been upgraded to a Tri-Power Carburetor setup (3 recently rebuilt 2 Barrel Rochester Carburetors). This particular GTO underwent a mechanical inspection and service in November 2020 where the spark plugs and water pump were replaced. The limited slip positraction rear end was also recently serviced in November 2020 and is sure to keep the rubber to the pavement. A 2 Speed Automatic Transmission ensures that any muscle car lover will be able to drive this classic Pontiac GTO to the local car show or on a car cruise. Dual Magnaflow Flowmaster Exhaust gives this 1964 GTO a nice throaty sound. With Power Brakes, bringing this powerful muscle car to a stop is much easier. The exterior on this GTO has been refinished in its original Yorktown Blue color. The chrome and brightwork, along with the seals, on this Pontiac are in excellent condition, with many components having been recently replaced. 4 BFGoodrich Redline Radial Tires with Factory Pontiac Hubcaps complete the exterior look on this 1964 GTO. The dark blue vinyl bucket seat interior of this '64 Pontiac is correct for the car and is in very nice shape as well, featuring a center console and floor mounted shifter. The center console also features a vacuum gauge which was a nice option offered back in 1964. The dash and steering wheel appear to be stock and are in very nice shape. The standard instrument cluster above the steering wheel includes oil pressure, battery, gas, and temperature gauges, along with a speedometer and tachometer. Aftermarket water temperature, battery voltage, and oil pressure gauges have also been neatly added under the dash. The standard pushbutton AM radio also features an upgraded FM tuner tucked neatly into the glove compartment. Whether you're looking for your first muscle car or you're looking to add to your growing collection of classic cars, we've got a great car here with this 1964 Pontiac GTO. Give us a call!
