1971 Dodge Demon 340

This is a BEAUTIFUL 1971 Dodge Demon painted in it's original color of GY3 Citron Yella and sporting its original numbers matching 340 engine and correct interior/exterior colors and style.  THIS IS THE CAR so many others have imitated and tried to duplicate - which judging by the car's looks, is completely understandable.  However, this is the ONE AND ONLY!

This Demon was pictured on the cover of High Performance Mopar and had a multi-page feature article in the magazine.  According to the article, when that owner purchased the Demon out of California it had 101,000 miles. But, due to the car being highly-optioned and having a pristine body, he decided a complete restoration was in order.  The numbers-matching engine was hot tanked, magnafluxed and bored .030 over and the steel crank was turned .010.  The heads were ported and polished and the interior was redone.  After the restoration was completed his efforts were very well received and recognized in multiple ways - along with a Mopar magazine feature article, pictured as a backdrop on toy packages, but also by muscle car enthusiasts. This Demon has consistently taken home show trophies, including a number of first place awards.  Most people already know, the original Demon was only available for 2 years.  The name was changed and the styling was significantly different for the 1973 model year.  This car continues to be a crowd pleaser and frequently takes home 1st place trophies and best-in-show awards to this day.

A prominent honor is thisSPECIFICDemon was the inspiration for one of the 1/64th scale Johnny Lightning High Performance Series cars.  This exact Demon is prominently pictured on the card as the backdrop (from High Performance Mopar magazine's cover) and appears on a number of JL's performance series cards.

Not only was this Demon a Mopar Magazine's cover and featured article car, but it is the basis of a Johnny Lightening die-cast collectible and is pictured right on the card!

NOW THAT'S COOL!

Take a close look at the fender tag and the rare original options including:

Citron Yella High Impact Paint (GY3)Automatic Transmission (D32)Bucket Seats (C55)OS Dual Painted Mirrors (G36)Hood Tie Down Pins (J45)Rear Wing Spoiler(J81)Fender Mounted Turn Signals (L31)Dual Exhaust (N41)Chrome Exhaust Tips (N42)

Additionally, it has the ULTRA RARE...

Floor mounted Cassette Player with Microphone (R26)- according to the information I could find, only 40 Demon 340s came with this option! (The stock cassette originally came with just an AM radio - the car now has an AM/FM radio so the cassette player is not hooked up.)

One last EXTRA RARE item to point out:

Emissions Control parts (N95) are still on the car - talk about RARE - when was the last time you have seen that on a Mopar muscle car? Everyone remembers that back in the day emissions parts were some of the very first things people took off and tossed away!

This Demon runs fantastic and shifts perfectly (I believe it has a shift-kit in the transmission.) It also has a Sure-Grip Rear Differential, (non-power) Disc Brakes, Power Steering, AM/FM Radio, Tuff-Style Steering Wheel (with the correct style Horn Button), Rallye Wheels, GoodYear PolyGlas Tires, Mopar Date Coded Spark Plug Wires, Correct Hoses, Correct Fuel Filter, Correct Distributor Cap (with point-less ignition), and of course, the Rallye Dash.  The speedometer, gauges, lights, tach (though not all that accurate), turn signals and cancel feature all work properly.  The ammeter has been replaced with a much safer voltmeter gauge which was installed in the ammeter location for originality purposes.  As the VIN indicates this car was built at the Los Angeles plant and typical for that specific plant, no broadcast sheet was found.

This beauty is ready for any inspection (which I highly suggest and encourage!) and speaking from experience it is a great joy to own and attracts all kinds of positive attention.

Of course, the mileage will increase slightly because I still drive the car periodically to keep everything fresh.  Due to the car's age, multiple owners and the mechanical limits of the odometer, the mileage is believed to be 105831 but, is not guaranteed.  In almost 9 years I've logged approximately 1,500 miles on the car.

I have earned a 100% feedback rating and over the years I have owned and sold many Mopars including a 1971 'Cuda convertible, a 1969 1/2 6-Pack Super B, a 1967 Barracuda Formula S convertible, 2010 Furious Fuchsia SRT Challenger, a 1966 Coronet, and most recently a 2003 Dodge Viper to name a few. Now be advised this Demon is not perfect.  After all, it is 50 years old, but it sure much sweeter than most...

So here you have it - a classic, well-sorted, rare and highly optioned 1971 Dodge Demon 340.

Deposit is Non-refundable.  Low-Ball offers, people with no funds or other non-sense will not be considered.  Of course the car is sold as-is and the owner assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in this auction.  The information is provided on an "as-is" basis with no guarantees of completeness, accuracy, usefulness and without any warranties of any kind whatsoever, expressed or implied.

When I purchased the car years ago, I was provided a window sticker and a copy of the shipping invoice indicating the Demon was shipped to the dealership in December 1970.  I have no way of knowing if these documents are originals, copies of originals, or really good reproductions, Either way, I hid some of the information so they can't be duplicated from this listing. People have inquired regarding a broadcast sheet - most Mopar folks know that broadcast sheets were not typically placed in vehicles produced at the Los Angeles plant. The common belief being the LA plant had a 'no trash' policy that no paperwork was to be left in the car during assembly.

I will not consider offers outside of eBay.
