EXTERIOR
This brilliant 2.5-litre 190E Cosworth is finished in a glossy coat of Blue-Black Metallic, a great period Mercedes colour well suited to the car's boxy physique. Under the glare of our studio lighting the bodywork shows a lovely deep shine, with almost no blemishes to speak of aside from some expected light frontal stone chips and only one or two small marks showing the car's honesty. Looking along both sides the panels remain straight and true, and there is no damage to the bumpers, bodykit, or trims. All in all, a highly impressive investment-grade example.

INTERIOR
The interior space is still really sharp. Spec'd with full black leather the cabin is a great place to be, the upholstery still notably fresh with only minor wear to the driver's bolster, all perfectly in line with the low mileage of 78k. Cast an eye over the dashboard and you'll notice a deep texture remains, with no cracks or sun damage to be found. Finer details, such as the console switchgear and lacquered wood trim, are in perfect condition. The leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearknob are also in great order, showing few signs of use.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Often these cars suffer from cold start issues but with this example the 2.5-litre 16v engine fires into life first turn of the key and ticks over smoothly. Equipped with the desirable 'dogleg' ZF manual gearbox - a must for the more sporting driver - the car is a real joy to drive, and having always been well cared for it certainly defies its years. The engine pulls really well and inside the cabin there are no annoying squeaks, rattles or knocks to be heard. The last service was carried out in October 2020 at 78,317 miles.

WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
Filling those boxy arches are the original 15-inch Mercedes alloys, all in perfect condition having been fully refurbished to a very high standard. The wheels are shod in a matching set of tyres with plenty of tread remaining at each corner. On test the brakes feel capable and strong, stopping the car smoothly and in a straight line. The car also handles like a dream having had both rear lower hub joints and all rear suspension support arms replaced at 75k miles.

HISTORY FILE
This exquisite UK-supplied manual 2.5-16 has covered only 78k miles from new, which is very low mileage for a Cosworth. The car has clearly been extremely well cared for during its lifetime, with 21 services having been carried out in total, 10 of which at Mercedes main agents. The most recent service was done in October 2020 at 78,317 miles; we have also just had the car freshly inspected for the new keeper's peace of mind. The MOT is valid until June 2021.

The original stamped service booklet and owner's manual are still present in the History File, along with a raft of maintenance invoices and old MOT certificates verifying the car's low mileage. It is currently registered on a cherished six-digit number plate ending 'DTM', which can be purchased with the car at an additional cost.
