1966  VW BEETLE RHD 1600cc

 Due to an expanding family I reluctantly have for sale my 1966 VW Beetle which was restored 4 years ago.   It had a full body off restoration with the bottom 6 inches being replaced all round and other required panels along the way. all done as close to factory as possible. It was100% rust free and solid before paint and under sealing carried out.

If viewing the car. which I would always suggest. I can show extensive photos of the work carried out.  I spent £6k+ on new parts and panels alone.

I have regularly maintained the car and everything works as it should. even the heating! It is great to drive and is very reliable. The car has a great colour combination of the one year only 1966 Seasand Beige (L568) and Brick Red interior and this solid car is a real head turner. The car is lowered but could be raised without too much trouble by the new owner.

 Description as follows:

 Chassis/Mechanical

All parts renewed/refurbished throughout at time of restoration (2009). Regularly checked and sails through mot's. Lowered Suspension - Front -  2” adjustable narrowed beam with dropped spindles. Lowered Suspension - Rear – 2 outer spline drop. Brakes – stock drum all round and upgraded to dual circuit master cylinder for extra safety.

 Engine

Strong 1600cc engine (slight oil leak as most do but requires little topping up). 34ict twin carburetors. Full flow stainless steel header and silencer (with skid plate and strengthener. )Colour coded engine tinware. Oil temperature dipstick. Pertronix electronic points.

 Exterior 

Polished Empi 5 spokes + 5x original 5x205 stock wheels in Pearl white with Stainless Steel hubcaps x4. Recently new tyres all round 145/65 x15 front and 165 x15 rear. Pop out rear windows. Stainless steel bumpers front and back. Original Safety Star brake light. Original Robri Stone guards. One of a kind roof rack –powder coated silver. Powder coated silver rear luggage rack- not fitted. Fog lightKlaxon and original horn. VW black on white rear mud flaps.

 Interior - (In excellent condition)

Original uncut dash. Original Blaupunkt radio (converted to ipod and 4 way speaker setup). Original Bambus parcel shelf. Red carpet throughout. As new headlining. Parcel shelf with speakers. Original brick red interior furniture – seats (drivers seat has small tear on bottom part but have matching colour seat cover which I used to protect it) and door/rear cards in great condition. New wiring loom installed at time of restoration and electrics converted to 12volts. Rev counter and Cigarette lighter/charger. 2x 3 point inertia seat belts and 2x rear lap belts in beige with chrome buckles. Drink/storage holder. Rare Australian rear window blind. Fire extinguisher. Electric washer bottle.

The only negative aspect to this great car is the exterior paint. due to the car living outside and being my daily driver. the car has some bubbling paint to the front wing light surrounds and various other areas around the car like the bonnet trim edges and door/gutter edges in places. These areas wouldn't be hard to sort out and could easily be brought back to show quality again and these issues do not detract from the overall look of the car. Please bear in mind that the exterior paint is not 100% but no welding would be required and it still looks great.
