1970 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE RED tax exempt rare with overdrive TAX and MOT

Hello. and thank you for taking the time to look at my listing.

On offer is my pretty Triumph Spitfire. First registered in 1970. the mark 3 spitty benefits from the more classic looking rear end. folding roof and over drive.  This car is not the typical rot box - I have loads of receipts for professionally refitted panels which I shall list below.

The car was MOT'd in September and there were NO advisory notes. I will tax the car this week so it will have a years tax meaning you can jump in the car and enjoy it straight away! Of course. this vehicle is tax exempt so road tax is free!

History:

I have a stack of old MOTs. tax discs and receipts / invoices for work carried out as well as some photographs.

Engine:

The 1293cc engine fires into life first (OK. sometimes second when really cold!) time everytime. The car is a delight to drive. stopping well and gear changes are smooth and quiet. The overdrive works well too. In my opinion. the engine is a little lumpy - but I'm told they're all like this? In any case. I think a minor service would do nothing but benefit the car anyway. This said. I've no hesitation in jumping in the car and driving any distance with confidence. There is a new stainless steel exhaust fitted which gives the car a lovely raspy sound.

Bodywork:

Recently the floor pans. inner and outter cills have been replaced. The body is very straight. everything seems to line up nicely. I feel that the paint could do with mopping to bring back up. or atleast a very good polish. The bumpers are fairly pitted. but may come back with a polish again. In all. its a very pretty car that you can drive as often as you like without being completed scared stiff about it getting marked or dirty.

Interior:

A lovely place to be! Black leather seats in excellent condition! Carpets are good. and the centre dash looks great with all guages working. although I think the speedo can exaggerate a little bit ;)

Roof:

Recently replaced. no worries here!

Reason for sale:

Bought because I'd always fancied one. but very selfish as I have a young family. This is offered for sale so I can go and find something with more seats. Yawn!

Bad bits: Radio cassette not working (who cares!). no V5 or log book (bought at auction. the buggers said it came with V5 in the catalouge. but when I asked for it they shrugged their shoulders! Not bothered me. but the new owner may want to apply for one through the DVLA - will cost around £25 I think - and the previous registered owner a lot more!). needs a good mop or polish. the passenger side window seems to poke out more than the roof. A bit of fettling and this should be easily adjusted!

Viewings / collection:

Dark evenings are a pain. however I'm available all weekend if anyone would like to come and inspect the car. I AM AWAY from Monday 11th November and back late Friday 15th November. so again will be available the following weekend. Whilst I'm away I will still have internet access and will be checking regularly to answer any questions.
