April 1970 Ford Cortina MkII Lotus (Twin Cam). Confirmed by the Lotus Cortina Register that this is a genuine car and has been known to the register for many years. Colour is Red II which is it's original colour. Over the years the car has been white with a green stripe and amber gold with black vinyl roof. Fully restored 8/9 years ago by the owner before last. Restoration included extensive new panels including inner and outer front wings. rear wheel tubs etc. Car had a bare metal respray back to it's original colour. black stonechip underneath and an engine rebuild by Nick Stagg Engineering. History file includes photographs of restoration. The gold stripe was added (dealer option originally) and a paintwork freshen up by Mitchville Autobodies in Kent. Minilites are a period accessory on an otherwise fairly original car. In 2013 four tyres have been replaced and a lot of work was carried out by Ashford Motorsport in Dover. This included a custom made complete exhaust system. Carbs stripped and overhauled. new fuel pump fitted and the rear seat belts installed. All the seat belts are in red from Securon. New battery also fitted this year. The prop shaft has been rebuilt by Maidstone Sports Cars. Other items include a new laminated windscreen. new side window rubbers and loads of other sundries (I have the list). Extensive receipts and old MOT's included. Current MOT to May 2014 and road tax is free. Mileage believed to be 129000 which is supported by MOT's back to 1981. Car was off the road for most of the 90's. As the car has been restored it cannot be described as original. In common with many major restorations some things are changed or replaced with non-original parts. Technically the following are wrong with the car: The car is a series 2 model but has doors from a series 1. The original carbs have been replaced with Dellorto's. The original airbox on top of the engine is missing. It has a non original brake servo. The rear parcel shelf has been replaced with a new one and i've not fitted a radio speaker. This car is not concours. The paint is not perfect and there is some wear and tear but then my kids love coming out in it. hence rear seat belts now fitted. This car turns heads at every petrol station and has completed the last three Classic Ford magazine tours into Europe. It has been in Classic Ford magazine and Classic and Sports Car. In summary. it has been great fun to drive and own for 6 years but it is now time to move on. I've spent £7. 00. 00 on this car since I've owned it. £2. 00. 00 of that has been this year. This car is in good solid condition but not Concours. WARNING – this car is not a trailer queen. you need to drive it hard. fast and make plenty of noise. Believe me you will turn heads absolutele everywhere. Car can be viewed at Jct 8 services M20. Maidstone Kent. No test pilots please.
