  You are bidding on an AM GENERAL 800 series 5 TON 6x6 tanker truck. The tank is 1643
gallons. The tank is also insulated . it is steel complete with a large square chute sliding door on rear of the tank for rapid unloading of the water. It was previously used for a fire truck and only hauled water. So it has never been contaminated with any chemicals etc. It has a 855 Cummins diesel engine in it with 250 horsepower. It has a 5 speed manual transmission. with a 2 speed transfer case. It is 6 wheel Drive. It already has a PTO box added to the transmission. so adding accessories such as a winch or water pump for the mounted tank would be easy.

and only 18. 45. actual miles on it. and 696 engine hours. This truck is literally not even broke in yet. Starts and runs like new. Zero blowby . no funny noises etc.

this truck has power steering. decent tires. it is easy to drive. The truck has a hard top cab. This truly is a BAD BOY water truck and would work great for spraying or transporting water to your cattle. horses or just watering down the road to keep the dust down. Would make a great septic pumping truck too. At one time this truck had spray bars on the front and rear so all of the plumbing is there. It would work great for off road areas or in the wet fields too with the 6 wheel drive. The seat is torn on the drivers side as shown in pictures. Also maybe a taillight bulb burned out and some clearance lights too. Other than that i cannot think of anything major wrong with this truck. It has been very well maintained by the US GOVERNMENT.
I think the top speed is around 52 miles per hour so. i would recommend having it hauled unless you have the extra time and just want to drive it home. The headlights do work . one of the tail lights would need to have a 24 volt bulb replaced to make it legal on the road. I would have replaced the bulbs but. i don't have any 24 volt bulbs.
I truly hate to see this truck go. It would also make a great heavy duty pickup truck if you have the time.
I was going to make this in to a dump truck but. do not have the time so i have decided to sell the truck with the tank on it. It is a 1973 AM General Truck. No complicated electronics to cause problems on this truck. The truck has been stored inside most of its life and was used as a fire truck on a US GOVERNMENT wildlife refuge here in North Dakota.
