1961 Pontiac Ventura 2-door hardtop mild custom. This car has been my pride and joy for the past 10 years but I'd like to sell it to finance the completion of my other project car. Unfortunately. we can't have everything! I'm not looking for any trades.
Original 389 2-barrel engine and Hydramatic transmission; new carburetor. rebuilt generator. Runs good (smokes a little bit on start-up. but then goes away). Exhaust is duals with new 26" Smithy's glass-packs. Side pipes are dummies. Rear-end is stock with 2. 56 gears. Suspension bushings and idler arm were replaced when the Air Ride Technologies/RideTech air bag system was installed. Recent full rewire by Tom Culbertson with a complete Ron Francis kit. Everything works but the clock and the radio. The stock radio is in place but there are no speakers. so I can't say if the radio is any good. I might have a rebuilt spare one. If I do. it goes with the car. I have taken the car on a few trips of a couple hundred miles each with no issues at all.
This was a Utah car so had minimal rust in the rockers and rear quarters. All of that was professionally repaired with steel patch panels. Floors and trunk floor are solid. never rusted other than usual surface rust. The car was originally built as a custom by the late Bo Huff and appeared as a feature car in Car Kulture DeLuxe magazine. POCI's Smoke Signals magazine. and the French magazine. Kustom. It debuted at the 2008 Grand National Roadster Show and took 2nd in its class. It also took 1st in class at the POCI Nationals in Dayton. Ohio. and has been featured on TV on My Classic Car and Livin' the Low Life.
A few years later. the car was stripped to bare metal and repainted by Fritz Schenck. The base color is House of Kolor "Sunrise" pearl. Scallops are in HOK tangerine. The roof has lace patterns and scallops with gold and lime Metalflake. You should see it in the sun! The side cove insert has variegated gold leaf. It's a stunning car and was featured a 2nd time in Car Kulture DeLuxe magazine. It won its class at the 2015 POCI Nationals in Louisville. Kentucky. The paint has started to bubble in a few spots on the body (not the top). It still looks great from 10 feet but you may want to plan for a repaint in a couple years. Or drive it as is.
Wheels are custom built (custom offset because of Pontiac's "Wide Track") 14x6 chrome steelies by Pete Paulsen. with Shannon cones. Tires are 205/75R14 Coker American Classic radial whitewalls.
Custom work on the body includes removal of all emblems and door handles. Doors are opened with heavy duty solenoids. 1961 Buick Invicta taillights. Bullets on the wiper studs but the wiper motor works on both speeds and I have NOS arms and new blades. Rear bumper was NOS; front bumper was rechromed. along with the cowl panel. grille surround. and all interior moldings.
1962 Cadillac steering wheel. Rear seat is stock. Front seats and console are from a 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix. The upholstery is pretty trick. All of the pleated inserts on the seats. doors. and rear side panels are removable and there's a white set (in the car now) and an interchangeable black set. so the interior can be all white or white and black. See the contrasting pictures of both configurations when the car was in its original guise. The trunk is upholstered. too. Carpet is black wool in the interior and trunk. The interior is by Doug Corson in Grand Junction. Colorado.
Feel free to e-mail any questions. The car is in Tullahoma. Tennessee (about 75 miles south of Nashville; 75 miles NW of Chattanooga; 65 miles NE of Huntsville. Alabama). Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but I will gladly assist your shipper in any way possible. The car is 56 years old. so obviously there is no warranty of any kind. I have described it to the best of my ability.
$1000 NON-REFUNDABLE PAYPAL DEPOSIT REQUIRED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE CLOSE OF THE SALE. Remaining balance is due within 7 days. either by cash in person. or certified funds from a reputable US bank or credit union. If you want to pay the balance with PayPal. that's OK. but include 4% to cover their fees. The car will not leave my garage until it is paid in full and any funds have cleared.
