The DeSoto Firedome is eye-catching in both design and color and they are an unusual and delightful way to stand out at a 1950s cruise-in. In 1956. the Forward Look was freshened and DeSoto actually outsold Chrysler for the year. A 12-volt electrical system was adopted. the Hemi grew to 330 cid and 230 hp and Powerflite transmission was optional on the Firedome. All new bodywork arrived in 1957 with a massive one-piece grille and front bumper and the biggest fins so far. Firedome became the middle line for DeSoto as Firesweep was introduced as the entry level line. DeSoto Firedomes now used a Dodge chassis and were built by the Dodge Division. The Firedome engine grew to 361 cdi in 1958. developing 295 hp. The grille was changed slightly and the side trim and contrasting panels now went up at the rear instead of down. Firedome sales dwindled. and 1959 marked the end of the line. with DeSoto following suit in 1961.
MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer this investment grade 1959 Bimini Coral DeSoto Firedome Sportsman Coupe that is in excellent restored condition with many original parts still on the car and the rarely seen 383 Dual-Quad powerlant. This Firedome was one of the early 2. 62 Sportsman Coupes that DeSoto produced in 1959 and was the final year of the Firedome model. This Firedome Coupe left the Jefferson Ave. . Dodge Detroit plant originally with highly desirable Bimini Coral exterior paint matched with Canyon Beige interior and has been recently restored to the original color combination.

The exterior is in excellent shape with all the correct trim pieces all in place. All the exterior chrome trim is mostly original and has been re-chromed. including the front and rear bumpers. The stainless steel side vent trim is in great shape along with all body trim emblems. The white top is in great shape with some very minor imperfections. The Bimini Coral body paint is in excellent overall condition and looks absolutely fantastic but does have some very minor chips and road wear. The correct wheel covers are in good shape with white wall tires.

Inside. the correct restored Canyon Beige/White interior is in excellent condition and shows minimal wear. The seats. dash and center console all look great as well as the door panels and headliner. The dash is the optional padded dash and is in excellent shape with no cracks. The gauges. lights. blinkers and wipers are in working order.

Under the hood you will find the optional Adventurer 383-CID V8 engine equipped with the twin four-barrel carburetors. The engine bay is extremely tidy and even contains the correct Jiffy Jet washer bag and engine stickers. Coupled to the 383 is a pushbutton 3-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission.

The current mileage shows 96. 54 miles and is believed to be original as the photocopy of the 2012 Ohio title has an "actual" mileage brand stating 96. 19 miles on 01/18/2012. VIN number is M431105387.
