***RELISTED DUE TO NON-PAYING BIDDER-HIGGS19681952 MG-TD Replica Factory assembled by Allison Replicars in 1980 offered by Gas Monkey Garage showing 29. 60 miles. The Allison Daytona Replicar Co. in Port Orange. Florida Built turnkey. Factory Assembled dune buggies & arguably the most authentic 1952 MG TD replica ever utilizing many original trim components on a modified VW Beetle Chassis. This is titled as a 1980 Allison MG-TD. We found this deluxe model with the fold down windshield. glove box. chrome rear luggage rack & optional Zenith Wire Wheels(true wire spoke rims w/real knock offs!) stored in the private garage of the original owner where it had been kept since last being enjoyed in the mid 90's. This very good example was built on a late model IRS chassis ('74 & later) with the venerable 1600cc Dual Port VW power plant. 4 speed transaxle & ball joint front end. After we brought it back to the Gas Monkey Garage we were able to charge the battery & start it using the one gallon gas tank the previous owner had installed after discovering the original fiberglass fuel tank was leaking. After an exhausting search for a factory replacement fuel tank( the original tank is molded into the fiberglass front body section & filled through the “radiator “cap!) We simply utilized a 6 gallon Marine fuel tank to test drive the car. This Allison MG-TD is a blast to drive! The acceleration is crisp. the handling is predictably tight & the ride is surprisingly smooth. We showed her some love by having the gel coat polished out to a remarkable shine( there is an area of the front left fender where the paint is chipped & the fiberglass is cracked-please see all pics) . the interior was cleaned up with a good detail & some replacement floor carpets. When we were finished the car looked great except for the steering wheel. so we ordered one off the internet and it really completes the true vintage look of the 1952 MG TD! This car comes with a full top & side curtains as well as the chrome luggage rack(both are not pictured) We have left the 6 gallon marine tank installed(6 X 35 mpg= 210 mile range!) so the winning bidder can enjoy the Fall driving season before all the leaves turn!
