very nice 1959 Mercury Parklane Cruiser

Up for bid is a very unique 1959 Mercury Parklane Cruiser.   This car is really a sight.   I will do my best to describe this car fully and accurately.   The car weighs 4300 pounds and is one of 4. 60 produced that year – this is a rare car.     

PAINT/BODY- that I can tell. the car is rust free.   There are no signs of rust repair or accident damage.   The paint is about 5 years old.   It has few chips here and there and overall. is in very good condition.   The car is very straight and all of the gaps on the doors and trunk look good.  

EXTERIOR GENERAL- most of the chrome has been re-chromed within the past few years and most. if not all. of the stainless has been polished.   The car is very complete.   The tires are in very good shape.   Much of the weatherstripping is in good shape.   Newer rocker moldings.   All glass is good.  

EXTRAS:  cruiser skirts – very nice. very expensive. and hard to find.   It also has a continental kit.    The continental kit puts the car over the top.   The car also has decorative lake pipes.    Rare factory compass.  

ENGINE/MECHANICAL:  the engine is pretty dressed up.   It has ceramic coated exhaust manifolds and air intake.   The valve covers are repro – polished the “M” Mercury logo ($450).   The engine runs very smoothly and quietly.   The car starts easily.   The car has the venerable 430 engine.   Newer wheel cylinders.   Newer ignition.   Newer Edelbrock carb.   Rebuilt sending unit.   Newer fan clutch.   Newer thermostat.   Good Optima battery.   Newer heater control valve.   Newer fuel pump and fuel lines.   Gas tank has been fully cleaned and serviced.     Newer shocks.   The car has new front and rear sway bars.   The car has newer exhaust – stainless steel from Waldrons (7/10).     

INTERIOR- the interior is clean but dated – it needs work.   Being sold with the car is original seat fabric should you decided to recover the seats (3 ½ yards from SMS).   The car has a Pioneer radio and six disc changer.   Newer trunk panels and liner.

NOT WORKING- the A/C is cooling a little bit and will need to be recharged.   The speedometer is seriously off.   All signals and lights work.   I cannot get the windshield wipers to work.   Driverside door hinges need some adjustment to shut better.   Not sure about mileage.
